ARCHBISHOP UY TO PARENTS: PROTECT CHILDREN FROM TEMPTATION THROUGH PRAYER BY EXAMPLE

CARMEN, CEBU — Cebu Archbishop Alberto "Abet" Uy urged parents to lead their children in spiritual life by demonstrating consistent personal prayer, highlighting the pivotal role of parental example in protecting youth from temptation.

STATEMENT

Where Do Public Funds Go?

Transparency and accountability should not be demanded from a single government office alone. The Office of the President issues travel authorities to numerous government offices, including its own officials and employees.

In this light, the public would surely appreciate full information on the travel expenses incurred by these offices and officials, including the public funds used for such trips.

From hereon, we expect that all travel authorities issued by the Palace, together with the corresponding travel expenses and public funds involved, be made available to the public.

Thank you.

Dumanjug Lifts School Cellphone Ban Following Zamboanga Shooting

Dumanjug, Cebu — Dumanjug Mayor Efren "Gungun" Gica has lifted the ban on cellphones in schools, now allowing students across the municipality to bring and hold mobile devices while on campus.

The decision comes following a recent shooting incident at a school in Zamboanga City, which highlighted the critical need for immediate communication between families during emergencies.

Mayor Gica had previously issued an executive order prohibiting students from bringing cellphones to school. However, he stated that the incident made him realize how vital direct contact is between parents and their children.

Instead of a total ban, the mayor has requested teachers to actively monitor and regulate the appropriate use of cellphones inside the classrooms to prevent disruptions to learning.
