𝑬𝑫𝑰𝑻𝑶𝑹𝑰𝑨𝑳 | A Call to Rise
Enough is enough. Filipinos are tired of being drowned in deception, suffocated by a system that prioritizes personal gain over public good. The weight of corruption has pushed our nation to the brink, leaving countless lives shattered by graft, embezzlement, and abuse of power. Today, as we take to the streets, we demand change – an end to the plunder of our resources and an end to the lies that have held us back for far too long.
The numbers are staggering. According to Deputy Ombudsman Cyril Ramos, corruption costs us 20% of the national budget, translating to a staggering PHP 700 billion to PHP 1.4 trillion annually. In 2025 alone, reports indicate that PHP 560 billion has potentially been lost to corruption. These figures represent more than just numbers – they represent the hard-earned money of Filipino taxpayers, stolen and misused by those in power.
It's outrageous that those in positions of authority are enjoying the fruits of our labor, our blood, sweat, and tears, while we struggle to make ends meet. Today, September 21, marks the 53rd anniversary of the declaration of martial law. Fifty-three years later, Filipinos have gathered across the country to demand accountability, transparency, and an end to the reign of corruption.
As we reflect on our past and present, we must also think about our future. We, as Filipinos, as citizens, as protectors of our land, and as advocates for democracy, have a responsibility to point out the troubles in our country. Let this day be a call to action, not just a reminder of our system's flaws. We must continue to demand change, to hold our leaders accountable, and to fight for a government that truly serves the people.
