Veronica Camacho Conejos is a strong and inspiring woman leader who has devoted more than fifteen years of service as President of Las Casas De la Virgen Candelaria Homeowners Association, Inc. in Tacloban City. In 2012, when the community faced the threat of losing the land they had long occupied, she courageously organized the residents and led the registration of the association, giving the community legal recognition and a collective voice. Through her determination and leadership, she successfully led negotiations with the financing bank and mobilized the community to raise the necessary funds for the required down payment, protecting their homes even as the residents were recovering from the devastation of Super Typhoon Yolanda.

Her persistence opened greater opportunities for the community. She guided the association through government housing program requirements and later led the transition to a Pag-IBIG Regular Socialized Housing Project, which resulted in the construction of 36 two storey homes for the members. Today, the association stands stronger and continues to move forward with stability and unity under her leadership. Through resilience, compassion, and unwavering dedication, Ms. Conejos continues to empower her community and exemplifies the powerful role of women leaders in building safe, secure, and hopeful communities.
