The Birth of Euclidian Chronicle: A Milestone for the Mathematics Department
“A Timeless Legacy to our dear LUNHS: A Beloved Alma Mater”
by: Dionisio P. Alcantara, Head Teacher VI

The Mathematics Department of La Union National High School has taken a bold and creative step towards strengthening communication, and inspiration among its members through the creation of its official newsletter – Euclidian Chronicle. This innovative endeavor marks a significant milestone in the department’s history, serving as both a platform for academic discourse and a testament to the team’s shared vision.
At the helm of this project is Mr. Dionisio P. Alcantara, Head Teacher VI of the Mathematics Department. With his leadership, the concept of a dedicated department publication transformed from a simple idea into a concrete reality. His vision was clear: to provide a space where mathematics educators and students alike could share knowledge, showcase achievements, and foster a deeper appreciation for the subject. Through his guidance, the newsletter would not merely inform but also inspire.
Supporting this initiative with unwavering dedication is Miss Anita L. Aspillaga, the newsletter’s adviser. Her expertise in editorial work, combined with her passion for nurturing young talents, ensures that Euclidian Chronicle maintains high standards of content, design, and appreciation. She plays a pivotal role in mentoring student writers, guiding them to articulate their insights, and ensuring that each issue reflects both accuracy and creativity.
The newsletter’s name Euclidian Chronicle, is a deliberate tribute to Euclid, the “Father of Geometry.” It symbolizes the newsletter’s mission: to uphold the timeless values of clarity, logic and rigor in mathematics while embracing modern perspectives and innovative approaches to learning. Through articles, features, problem-solving challenges, and updates on departmental events and achievements, Euclidian Chronicle serves as a bridge connecting teachers, students, and the broader school community.
The creation of Euclidian Chronicle is more than just a launch of a publication; it is a celebration of collaboration, intellectual curiosity, and the vibrant culture within the Math Department. As it continues to grow and evolve, the newsletter is expected to become a lasting legacy – one that not only documents the department’s milestones but also fuels the passion for mathematics among generations of learners at La Union National High School.

Tips in Reviewing and Studying In preparation of the quarterly examination:

Active Recall:

>Flashcards: create questions on one side of the paper and answers on the other. Test yourself!

>Teach someone else: Explain the concepts or lessons to a friend or someone with you. Teaching reinforces your understanding and identifies gaps in your knowledge!

Summarization and Memorization:
> Write short Notes: After reading or watching the lesson that you need to study, rewrite the main Ideas in your own words. This makes it easier to understand and remember!
> Write down only the important words of the topic you’re studying, writing important words makes it easier to memorize the topic or lesson whether you’re studying alone or with friends!

>Avoid cramming at the last minute. Space out your study sessions in short periods over time.

>Get a good night’s sleep. It allows your brain to recharge and improves your ability to recall what you learned the night before.

>Avoid comparing yourself to others. In anything, we tend to compare ourselves to others even though we know how unhealthy it is! Everyone works in different ways at different paces. Neither does being negative works: “I will fail this” , “I’m not smart enough”. Saying things like this will not change your grades neither will it improve your mentality. Stop talking down on yourself and instead take charge of your life.

And last, always remember to pray! There’s nothing more powerful than a word of prayer! It helps calm your mind, strengthen your focus, and give you the best confidence that you’ve done your best while leaving the rest in God’s hands.

The Future Makers
by: Glynicka Joyce Garcia

When we hear the word “hero,” we often think of characters from movies who can fly or fight villains. But in reality, heroes also exist in classrooms. They don’t carry shields or swords — instead, they carry books, chalk, and an endless amount of patience. Every day, they face the challenge of guiding students with different personalities, and still, they choose not to give up on any of us.

Teachers may look ordinary, but what they do is extraordinary. They repeat lessons until every student understands, and they check piles of papers late at night when the world is already asleep. Even on their most tiring days, they still show up ready to teach, ready to inspire, and ready to believe in us.

What makes teachers truly heroic is not just their knowledge but their heart. They encourage us when we feel like giving up, and they see our strengths even when we don’t. A simple “You can do it” can sometimes change the way we see ourselves, turning doubt into confidence and mistakes into lessons.

So while the world looks up to superheroes on the big screen, let us not forget the everyday heroes who shape our future. Teachers don’t need capes to be heroes; their greatest power is their dedication and the love they pour into every student they teach.
