🚫 What Not to Say During a VA Interview (10 Tips for Beginners!)
Hey future VAs 👋 Nervous about your first interview?
Here are 10 things you should never say - and what to say instead! 💡
Save this for later 🔖 or tag a VA friend who needs it! 💻✨
⸻
1️⃣ “I don’t have any experience.”
❌ Sounds too negative!
✅ Try: “I’m just starting out, but I’ve practiced these skills and I’m confident I can do the tasks well.”
👉 Confidence > experience (especially if you’ve been practicing!)
⸻
2️⃣ “I can do everything.”
❌ Clients want honesty, not overconfidence.
✅ Try: “I can help with [specific tasks], and I’m open to learning new ones if needed.”
💬 Specific > vague!
⸻
3️⃣ “I don’t know.”
❌ Don’t stop the convo there.
✅ Try: “I’m not familiar with that yet, but I’m excited to learn it quickly!”
✨ Willingness to learn = BIG green flag.
⸻
4️⃣ “I just want to work from home.”
❌ Feels like you only care about comfort.
✅ Try: “I love the flexibility of remote work, but I’m more excited to help clients manage their tasks efficiently.”
🏡 Passion first, comfort second!
⸻
5️⃣ “What do you do exactly?”
❌ Oops - that means you didn’t research.
✅ Try: “I read about your business and saw you offer [service/product]. I’d love to know more about how your team works daily.”
📚 Always come prepared!
⸻
6️⃣ “I don’t have any questions.”
❌ Sounds uninterested.
✅ Try: “May I ask what tools you use for communication and task management?”
💬 Asking questions = shows interest!
⸻
7️⃣ “How much will I get paid?” (Too early!)
❌ Let the client bring it up first.
✅ Try: “I’d love to know more about the project scope first so I can give a fair rate.”
💰 Timing matters!
⸻
8️⃣ “Sorry, my internet is bad.”
❌ Test it before the interview.
✅ If it happens, calmly say: “There seems to be a slight lag, thank you for your patience.”
⚙️ Preparation saves the day!
⸻
9️⃣ “I’m nervous.”
❌ Don’t highlight it.
✅ Breathe, smile, and focus on listening and answering confidently.
💪 You got this!
⸻
🔟 “I don’t have skills yet.”
❌ Clients hire capable people - even beginners!
✅ Try: “I’m continuously improving my skills through practice and online courses. I’m excited to apply what I’ve learned!”
🌱 Growth mindset wins!
⸻
💡 Pro Tip:
Always sound positive, confident, and eager to learn.
Even if you’re new, your attitude can make the best impression. ✨
