Legendary American swimmer,Michael Phelps holds the record for the most medals (28) in Olympic Games history of which 23 are gold medals ,at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing China Phelps won a mind boggling 8 gold medals thereby eclipsing Mark Spitz's record of 7 medals at a single Olympic tournament one of the major highlights of Phelps' career in the pool was when he won the 100 meter butterfly event in a time of 0.01 seconds.

Growing up Phelps was a victim of bullying because of the size of his ears and the shape of his face however he rose above the victimization to become arguably one of the greatest Olympian of all time.

Despite encountering some struggles Michael Phelps defied adversity to win 6 medals ( 5 gold plus 1 silver medal) at the London 2012 Olympic Games thereby reestablishing himself as a resilient figure.
