So happy I got to be featured here!! As the first ever female caster of CEL, iโm proud to have made waves that became significant in empowering women. ALL WOMEN SHOULD HOLD THEIR HEADS HIGH WHEREVER THEY AREโผ๏ธ๐
CASTING WITH PASSION
Joining the league for Niรฑa Nicole V. Hiramis aka โKioshiโ started with a simple message from the Season 1 Production Head, Chen Enriquez, who was looking for someone to accompany him in a CEL meeting, an opportunity which she accepted.
โFrom then on I was called in to help, I was a runner at first. Then I got the title of Assistant Production Head. But I helped in ways I can like being in League Ops, being in Player Care, being a Floor Director. Itโs honestly a huge jump from that to my now role as a talent, a shoutcaster,โ she recounts.
As she completes her BS in Chemistry degree, questions on why she continues to do shoutcasting despite it being irrelevant to her college program are frequently raised.
โI have been asked that question a lot of times that I sometimes think that maybe I should just stop. Itโs also hard to balance my time because I have responsibilities to both my role in CEL and as a student, I don't want to be lacking in either one, and both require dedication,โ she shares.
Reflecting on this, she realized that it is all about perspectiveโacademics might come first but her role in the league remains an important outlet for her to express her creativity and will continue to matter as much as her education.
Recognized as the leagueโs first female caster, she values the growing representation of women in esports, stating, โThe biggest spark that I have in the matter is the whole โfirst female caster in CELโ mantra as I was put in a platform, given a chance directly in the spotlight, to show to people that women are talented and have so much to bring to the table and encourage women to join in should they want to.โ
Now in the leagueโs third season, she is no longer raising the flag for female shoutcasters alone as she is accompanied by Cathryna Marga Y. Torralba aka โKkoreโ and Lara Curtez C. de Lara aka โSunbyโ, two talented female casters making their mark in the esports scene.
โโWomen In Esportsโ is such a powerful phrase and an empowering movement of lifting up women in esports. It means so much to me too as I also am one of the women who are in esports. It emphasizes and celebrates the capabilities and strengths of us women and battles all barriers we face in such a male-dominated industry. The title has made so many waves in the industry, and it is gratifying to see the changes that's leaning towards inclusivity for women,โ she expresses.
