The senior high school students gathered in the audio-visual room (AVR) during their homeroom period this morning, July 9, 2025, for the Senior High School (SHS) Testing Orientation organized by the Guidance Office that aimed to prepare students for the upcoming aptitude examinations and help them discover their individual learning styles.

Ms. Charisse Polotan, the school’s psychometrician, briefed the students on the different aptitude tests they will be taking. For Grade 11, the Readiness Test for Senior High (RTSH) is scheduled for August 27, 2025, during their homeroom period. They will also take the Otis-Lennon School Ability Test (OLSAT), though its official date is yet to be announced.

Meanwhile, the Grade 12 students will take the Readiness Test for Colleges and Universities (RTCU) on January 7, 2026, also during homeroom. They are also set to take the Scholastic Abilities Test for Adults (SATA), which likewise has no official date at the moment.

After the briefing, students accomplished a modality questionnaire to determine their preferred learning style—whether visual, auditory, or kinesthetic.

The orientation aims to help students prepare not only for internal diagnostic exams but also for external testing requirements such as college admission tests. By discovering their learning styles, students are encouraged to develop effective study habits and train themselves to approach exams with focus and confidence.

With the theme “Pilgrims of Hope: Strengthening Technology, Livelihood, and Healthy Eating Habits,” STC of Cebu officially launches the month of July as Edukasyong Pantahanan at Pangkabuhayan (EPP) and Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE), and Nutrition Month last Monday, July 7, 2025, opening a variety of activities that teach age-appropriate technical abilities and further hone the life skills of every Theresian.

The celebration aims to build a strong foundation for success through knowledge, values, skills, and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle. Grades 4 to 6 will participate in various entrepreneurial and technological workshops designed to help them become tech-savvy, resourceful, and responsible individuals.

Simultaneously, Grades 4 to 12 will engage in a three-part series focused on promoting healthy eating habits. The series seeks to guide Theresians in making mindful food choices by encouraging proper mealtime behavior and fostering appreciation for the role of food in personal well-being and community development.

Anchored in the goal of developing holistic skills, the month-long celebration will culminate in a meaningful community meal, where each class will share a healthy and simple dish on July 25, honoring the school's rich legacy of unity, wellness, and simplicity.

Start the school year with a bang as we welcome the new members to our Theresian family, and say hello to familiar faces at this year's Welcome Gathering held in the school auditorium on July 4, 2025.

The event began with the introduction of the school personnel, institutional staff, and the Basic Education Department (BED) Student Body Association (SBA) Officers, the high school students were presented with the people who will be guiding them this school year.

The welcome gathering also featured many opportunities for students—and teachers—to showcase their talents from singing to dancing.

First came the new students with their outstanding dance performance, proving to everyone that their skills are not to be underestimated. They were also given welcoming tokens by the BED SBA after the performance.

Next came the male students from each grade level showing off their powerful Boy Power through several dance numbers performed by selected male students from each grade level.

Third to perform were the BED SBA Officers with their dance number on the song "Like Jennie," followed by the De Meester Choir with their song number, a remix of "All of You" from Encanto and "This is Me" from The Greatest Showman.

Next to the spotlight were the teachers, showing everyone who's boss with their group dance performance on the song "Better When I'm Dancin’" by Meghan Trainor.

And finally, to end the gathering on a memorable performance, three unexpected guests, namely, Mrs. Delma Donna Sales, Mrs. Renejane Perales, and Ms. Mylene Rheza Escudero joined voices as they surprised everyone by singing each of their song numbers. Truly a remarkable and memorable way to start the school year.

As the school year starts with joy and excitement, STC of Cebu celebrated its first institutional Mass for SY 2025–2026 on July 4, 2025, at the sunken court presided by Fr. Charles Louis Jayme with the theme: "Guided by the Spirit, We Journey Together as Pilgrims of Hope.”

This included the solemn Rite of Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Eucharist, formally entrusting the selected faculty members with their sacred duties as lay ministers for the Communion. The dedication of the faculty was also reaffirmed through a heartfelt Oath of Fidelity, showing their dedication in the embodiment of the school's core values as they become the bridges of its mission toward providing transformative education to the Theresian learners.

Theresian values revolve around the understanding that being Christ-centered should not only be practiced during mass but also lived out in daily life—a living testament to its values.

Moreover, the solemn event marked the launch of the Solidarity Fast initiative by the community involvement (CI) office, a testament to helping the anawim and demonstrating social responsibility, setting a hopeful tone for the academic year.

The mass was not merely a religious gathering, but it was an embodiment of what STC of Cebu stands for. As rows of students actively participated in the mass, it showed how Theresians are committed to practicing the Christ-centered values that define them.

The annual tradition of STC of Cebu in finding potential officers who will lead the class took place once again through a playshop activity held on June 26, 2025, in the Basic Education Department's respective classrooms.

In light of being a servant leader as one of the marks of a Theresian, the playshop activity serves as a head start to test a student's capability of leading a team and come up with strategic plans, all while fostering teamwork and camaraderie.

This activity can be performed in many ways, but the most common one is through the "Tower of Trust" wherein students are tasked to make a tall and durable tower using only used papers, newspapers, magazines, and any kind of tape. This tests the student's leadership skills by coming up with a plan while everyone cooperates in pulling off the task.

"Based on the playshop, a good leader is someone who has the right ideas and can effectively guide a team in executing them. While the playshop may seem chaotic due to the eagerness and competitiveness of the participants, a good leader can navigate through it without causing too much commotion while still keeping it fun," said Justine Korneliussen of 12-St. Catherine of Bologna as she experienced the significance of having the playshop to find effective leaders who will guide and take charge of the class for the entire school year.

Through the playshop activity, the students can prove themselves to their classmates and adviser that they can lead, offer solutions for the betterment of their classes, and at the same time, be given an easier perspective in choosing the rightful leader who will sit in office for their class for the S.Y. 2025-2026.

For many people, June 25, 2025, is another normal Wednesday, but for Theresians, it marks a new beginning and the start of their new school year. Hallways buzzed with energy and enthusiasm as returning and new students gathered for their first day. Greeted by student leaders and faculty, St. Theresa’s College of Cebu starts its day with warmth and smiles.

Grade 10 student Jules Tabiola, auditor of the Student Body Association (SBA), shared his high hopes and eagerness to serve this school year.

“All I want to do is help the SBA with what they have right now,” said Jules.

Meanwhile, graduating students wish to end their last years of high school with meaningful memories.

“I also want to wrap my last year in high school with fun-filled memories with my teachers, schoolmates, and friends,” said grade 12 student Jen Arpon, who also aspires to end her last year strong.

She added, "I want to achieve graduation with flying colors in my last year in STC of Cebu."

Ms. Jee Altero, a grade 10 adviser, expressed her excitement and anticipation with the addition of new teachers to the faculty.

“With them, it would be fun because most of them are in my age bracket… I think it would be very fun to be with people who are my age,” emphasizing her enthusiasm to work along with her colleagues.

She also expressed her open-mindedness for the new school year given the new environment.

“I believe every year is a new environment for seasoned and new teachers as well because there will be a lot of changes not just with the people you are working with but also the outputs that we need to submit,” Ms. Altero added.

As the day progressed, energizers, orientations, and kumustahans continued across all levels. With the new school year underway, STC of Cebu sets sail on their journey filled with commitment, open-mindedness, and a heart for service.

“It’s more than just a reminder—it’s a reset.”

On June 26, 2025, grades 9 and 10 Theresians gathered at the auditorium for a convocation that marked more than just the beginning of a new academic year. It was a pause—a chance to reflect, refocus, and realign with what it truly means to walk the halls of STC with intention.

“It was informative. It reminded me of the rules that I had forgotten,” shared Mikesha Durano of 9-Ven. Teofilo Camomot. It was a simple yet striking reminder that even the most familiar guidelines deserve a second look.

In the rush of routines and responsibilities, moments like these ground us. As we step into a new chapter, we’re called not only to recall the rules—but to live them out fully, with clarity, commitment, and the quiet confidence of a true Theresian.
