๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐โ๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐?
One of Cebu IT Parkโs most recognizable open spaces has become the subject of intense online speculation after rumors surfaced that Garden Bloc may soon give way to a major new development.
The discussion gained traction on the Cebu community of Reddit, where netizens began sharing claims that the area could eventually be cleared for a large-scale project. Among the most talked-about rumors is the possibility of a new tower linked to global banking giant JPMorgan Chase, while others believe the site may instead be eyed for a significant expansion of Ayala Malls Central Bloc.
As speculation spread, many Cebuanos expressed concern over the future of familiar destinations such as Sugbo Mercado and Pipeline, both of which have become staples of the IT Park experience.
For years, Garden Bloc has served as more than just vacant land. It has hosted food markets, community gatherings, weekend crowds, and thousands of memories for workers, students, and residents. To many, it remains one of the few open spaces in an increasingly dense business district.
At the same time, others argue that redevelopment is inevitable. With Cebuโs continued growth as a BPO, technology, and business hub, the land occupied by Garden Bloc has long been viewed as prime real estate with significant commercial potential.
As of writing, neither Ayala Land, JPMorgan Chase, nor the businesses reportedly affected have officially announced plans regarding the future of the property.
Still, the discussion has sparked a larger question:
Should Cebu preserve the spaces that give the city character, or should every available piece of land be maximized for development?
For now, Garden Bloc remains standing, but the rumors have already ignited one of the most talked-about debates in Cebuโs online community.
Note: The reported redevelopment plans remain unconfirmed as of publication.
