“Did you know? The RMS Majestic was visibly larger than the RMS Titanic! However, despite its impressive size, the Titanic remains the most legendary ocean liner in history. Size isn’t everything—it’s the story that makes a ship truly unforgettable.

Did you know? This fireplace, once a symbol of luxury aboard the RMS Titanic, now rests silently on the ocean floor. Once adorned with intricate gold detailing and rich wood, it has been slowly reclaimed by the sea over the past century. This series of images shows its transformation—from its grand state in 1912, to its haunting decay deep in the Atlantic. A powerful reminder of time, tragedy, and history beneath the waves.”

This fireplace was located in the First-Class Lounge of the Titanic, a lavish area where the wealthiest passengers gathered for socializing.
• The first image shows its current state as seen on deep-sea expeditions, covered in rusticles and marine sediment.
• The second image is a digitally enhanced restoration, giving a glimpse of how it might have looked before complete decay.
• The third and fourth images are recreations from James Cameron’s Titanic film, showcasing its former elegance.
• Titanic’s wreck, discovered in 1985, continues to deteriorate due to deep-sea currents, metal-eating bacteria, and natural decay.

This fireplace remains one of the most recognizable artifacts in Titanic’s wreck, reminding us of the grandeur and tragedy of history’s most famous ship.

Did you know? This haunting image shows the RMS Olympic in her final days, stripped of her glory before being scrapped. Often overshadowed by her infamous sister, Titanic, the Olympic served as a troop transport during World War I and was even nicknamed “Old Reliable” for her service. Despite her distinguished career, she was retired and dismantled in the 1930s as newer, more modern ships replaced the aging liner.

Explanation:
The image depicts the RMS Olympic, the eldest of the three Olympic-class liners (Titanic and Britannic being the others). After a long and successful career, including wartime service, Olympic was decommissioned in 1935. This photo captures her in a deteriorated state, likely in the process of being scrapped. Unlike the Titanic, which met a tragic fate in 1912, the Olympic served for over two decades before being dismantled. The dark skies and rusting hull in the image symbolize the end of an era for one of the most famous ocean liners in history.
