Once a quiet colonial-era institution along P. del Rosario Street, the University of San Carlos (USC) has grown into one of the Philippines’ premier centers of learning. Established in 1867—with origins traced as far back as 1559 to the Colegio de San Ildefonso—USC stands today as a symbol of Cebu’s enduring academic excellence.

Its main campus, nestled at the corner of P. del Rosario, Pelaez, Sancianco, and Junquera Streets, has witnessed generations of Carolinians shaping history. Now ranked 7th among the country’s top 10 universities by EduRank in 2024, USC continues to embody its legacy of faith, scholarship, and innovation well into 2025.

Filipino Voices Shine at Frankfurt Book Fair’s Global Stage

The first day of the Frankfurter Buchmesse opened with vibrant energy as the Philippines took the spotlight as this year’s Guest of Honour. Filipino author and publisher, Atty. Mac Gordon shared his pride in representing the country’s rich literary heritage at the world’s largest book fair, joining a strong delegation led by Senator Loren Legarda and the National Book Development Board (NBDB). The Philippine Pavilion stood out for its warmth, creativity, and cultural depth — a true showcase of Filipino storytelling to the international publishing community.

Among the featured works was “Oh My Golf: Life’s Learnings, Laughter and Lessons through the Fairway,” alongside titles like “Arkipelago,” “Matag Adlaw,” and “Open and Conscious,” all published under Advaux Publishing + Creatives. The Filipino delegation engaged with authors, publishers, and distributors from around the world, fostering collaboration and cultural exchange.
