On September 10-11, 2025, the Technological Tribune conducted applicant interviews and skills tests at the CTU-Tabogon Library Hub. The activity served as a crucial step in selecting new members for the official campus publication.

Applicants from different departments participated in the screening process, aspiring to take on various roles in the publication. The positions included News Anchor, News and Sports Writer, Photojournalist, Literary and Feature Writer, Cartoonist, Video Journalist, Video Editor, and Layout Artist. Each candidate was carefully evaluated not only on their technical skills but also on their creativity, critical thinking, and ability to communicate effectively. Known as the โ€œ๐†๐ซ๐š๐ง๐ ๐Ž๐ฅ๐ ๐Œ๐š๐งโ€ of Cebu, Osmeรฑa was the fourth president of the Philippines and the very first Visayan to hold the nationโ€™s highest office. He was one of Cebu's most esteemed leaders, dedicating his entire life to public service, as a journalist, lawmaker, Vice President, and finally as President during the country's most difficult years in World War II.

In his inaugural address in Washington D.C., he declared:

Osmeรฑa's leadership guided the nation through the challenges of liberation and rebuilding, leaving a legacy of humility, integrity, and devotion to the Filipino people.

Today is not just a holiday, but also a reminder of what true public service means. On Osmeรฑa Day, we remember a Cebuano who became a national figure, a leader whose example challenges us to lead with honor and sincerity, and to always put country above self.

Salute to our fourth presidentโ€”Sergio Osmeรฑa Sr., a statesman, a leader, and a Filipino worth remembering, whose legacy continues to inspire generations.

O pale bloom beneath the hush of waves,
your silence is a psalm I ache to write.
Hands bound by virtue, not by sin,
you sleep as the stars hold their breathโ€”
and I, too, have drowned in places
no one saw.

Your lipsโ€ฆ theyโ€™re still partedโ€”
not in fear, not in pain,
but like you were caught mid-prayer.
Like your last breath wasn't begging,
but believing.

And somehow, I hear you.
Not in words, but in the ache beneath my ribs
the kind that doesnโ€™t go away,
the kind you just learn to live with.

The river holds you like itโ€™s sorry,
like it knows it took something it was never worthy of.
You donโ€™t sink. You donโ€™t fight.
You just areโ€”floating,
as if even death couldnโ€™t bear to pull you under.

And I ask myself
what kind of world looks at a girl like you
and see something dangerous?
What kind of world breaks the gentle ones
and calls it justice?

What hearts beat the rhythm of your undoing?
They called you fragileโ€”yet you float
like a question heaven dared not answer.
A halo blooms from your sorrow,
not from their blessing.

I know you.

Not by name,
but by every echo in my ribs
when I hold back my voice
just to survive the day.

You, the saint of silence,
have become the scripture
for every girl who broke
so beautifully they thought she was whole.

O martyr of moonlit agony,
your story isnโ€™t buried in waterโ€”
itโ€™s written in the trembling of girls
who says โ€œIโ€™m fineโ€ through clenched teeth,
in the poetry we leave behind
like flowers on forgotten altars.

I want to pull you from the river
and tell you:
they didnโ€™t win.

They may have chained your hands,
but your stillness sings louder
than their entire world ever could.

And if I am to drown someday
let it be like you:
soft, unbending,
wrapped in light they cannot kill.

Teachers are not only educators but also mentors, guides and artists who light the path so that others can learn to walk on their own. That is why one of the most quoted words of Helen Caldicott is true; she once wrote,

This is not just a tribute but also a reminder of the countless hours of unwavering patience and geniune care with which teachers guide their students.

Behind every successful person is a teacher who, at some point, believed in them. Beyond textbooks, it is teachers who inculcate values, resilience, and the courage to dream. They create a sense of curiosity, ignite passion, and a lifelong learning.

In line with this, P. J. Abdul Kalam once said,

As we begin to celebrate this special occasion for teachers, we should not measure their worth solely by how well their students perform on exams or by the number of certificates they earn, but by the countless lives they have transformed. Today, we honor our teachers not only for what they teach, but for being pillars of hope, wisdom, and compassion.

Balat ng puno ang papel na ginamit,
Matulis na bato, pang-ukit na batid;
Sa bawat guhit, ang wikaโ€™y sumisilip,
Pamana ng lahi, sa pusoโ€™y nakaukit.

Bago pa dumating ang dayong lengguwahe,
Baybayin ang gamit, wika ng ating lahi;
Labimpitong titik, sa alaalaโ€™y sariwa,

Cebuano, Iloko, at Waray ay iyan;
Kapampangan, Bicol, pati mga Tausug,
Iisa ang tinigโ€”Pilipinas kong irog.

Wika ng bayan ko, sagisag ng dangal,
Tanglaw ng Silangan, liwanag na mahal;

Students shone in their traditional Filipino outfits, transforming our campus into a vibrant tapestry of culture and history. The celebration highlighted the rich diversity of our archipelago, with each studentโ€™s attire telling a unique story. From the elegant baroโ€™t saya and the refined barong Tagalog to the intricate patterns of the malong and the majestic colors of the Filipiniana gown, every piece was a testament to our enduring heritage.

It was truly a day of pride, culture, and unity.
