Very wrong

That sounds a little harsh right? Do bear with me 🙏🏻. But then...

There is a difference between choosing yourself and abandoning your vows, and too many people confuse the two. When you are married but you still make decisions like you are single, that is not choosing yourself, that's selfishness. Choosing yourself was supposed to happen before the vow, not after it.

Once you say "I do," your decisions carry a second name now. Where you go, what you spend, who you entertain, how you spend your time, none of it is meant to be filtered through "me" alone anymore.

Marriage asks you to keep your spouse in mind every time you choose, not because you lost your voice, but because you gained a partner whose life is now tied to yours.

So calling that selfishness isn't harsh, it's honest. Freedom without responsibility was single life's privilege. Marriage trades that privilege for something deeper, a life built with someone, not around them.
