Cebu-based power and water firm Vivant Corp said on Sunday its consolidated core net income rose 24% to 2.0 billion pesos ($35 million) in the first nine months of 2025, driven by stronger earnings from its power generation business and a turnaround in its water unit.

Including non-recurring items such as foreign exchange gains, insurance proceeds and cost reimbursements, net income attributable to equity holders of the parent climbed 12% year-on-year to 1.9 billion pesos for the January–September period.

Real Estate: Megaworld to Reinvest ₱3.4b in Cebu, Bacolod, Palawan Townships After MREIT Sale

Megaworld Corp will deploy about 3.4 billion pesos raised from block sales of shares in its office REIT to expand malls, offices and hotels across three provincial townships, led by The Mactan Newtown in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.

The property developer said proceeds from July and September disposals of MREIT Inc shares will be reinvested in new income-generating assets in Cebu, Bacolod and Palawan.

The pipeline includes additional office towers and lifestyle malls that could later feed MREIT’s portfolio, alongside hotel projects.

In Cebu, The Mactan Newtown spans 30 hectares along the tourism coastline and includes a beach amenity for the township.

Four residential developments have been finished, three more are being built, and the estate hosts five office towers and two hotels.

Ongoing projects include the standalone Mactan Expo convention center and the multi-level Mactan World Museum.

In a resolution dated August 29, 2025, the Ombudsman rejected Garcia’s motion for reconsideration and upheld its finding of Conduct Prejudicial to the Best Interest of the Service and Simple Misconduct.
