Childrenโs Paradise Montessori: Where Learning Meets Life
At Children's Paradise Montessori School (CPMS), the Montessori way of education serves as a strong and flexible foundationโone that allows the school to seamlessly integrate programs such as Scouting, Best Buddies, R.I.S.E., Arts, and Music into its curriculum.
Rooted in independence, hands-on learning, and respect for each childโs pace of growth, Montessori education at CPMS creates space for initiatives that nurture leadership, inclusion, creativity, and real-world readiness.
This holistic approach was evident during the schoolโs Recognition Ceremony, anchored on Dr. Maria Montessoriโs belief as its theme โThe Child is Hope and Promise for Mankind,โ where the community gathered to honor not only academic excellence but also the transformation of each learner.
โToday, we did not simply recognize achievements. We celebrated growth,โ said CPMS Founder and President Marivic Bathan in her address during the Recognition Ceremony.
A Stage for Growth and Talent
During the Graduation Ceremony, held earlier, honored 10 Grade 6 graduates, seven of whom received special distinction as loyalty awardees. They have spent eight to ten formative years at CPMS, growing within the Montessori environment that emphasizes responsibility, leadership, and self-direction. Each of the 10 were recognized for one of the schoolโs core values that they have consistently practised and lived by.
Preschool completers were also recognized as they prepared to transition to Elementary, marking another milestone in their developmental journey.
More than a formal rite, the recognition day became an advocacy stageโa platform for learners to demonstrate what they have absorbed not only academically, but socially and emotionally.
Students delivered messages, assisted in hosting duties, and participated actively, with teachers providing gentle mentoring behind the scenes.
The Recognition Ceremony also highlighted the artistic strengths of the school community. Hosted by two young students, the program featured the various talents of learners, including dances and two short plays. The CPMS Rondalla led by Reyden Bathan, Rondalla Director, also played several local tunes while the CPMS Choir led by Maestro Dennis Gregory Sugarol, Choir Director, sang inspiring songs. Scouts received their badges, symbolizing hard work, discipline, and service.
Montessori Plus: Programs that Shape Character
Beyond its core Montessori curriculum, CPMS integrates programs that prepare students for life outside the classroom.
For the past two years, CPMS has run a chapter of Best Buddies Philippines (BBP) which is one of Best Buddies Internationalโs (BBI) active accredited country affiliates, promoting friendship and inclusion for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through structured activities and guided interactions, students learn empathy, belonging, and the value of meaningful peer relationships.
Scouting reinforces discipline, teamwork, and environmental stewardship.
โThrough our scouting experience, our children have learned to stand on their own feet โ to become more independent and responsible, caring for themselves with confidence, and extending care outward... to their neighbors, to the environment, to our country and to the world,โ Bathan pointed out.
RISE: Preparing Learners for the Real World
A key highlight of the ceremony was the recognition of the pioneers of the R.I.S.E. Programโshort for Real-World Integration and Skills Enhancement. Designed to prepare learners with special needs for life beyond school, RISE equips adolescents with practical skills, adaptive abilities, and meaningful real-world exposure.
The pioneers of the program were honored during the ceremony, underscoring CPMSโ commitment to inclusive education and innovation. By blending life skills training with Montessori principles, the school ensures that every learner is supported according to their needs and potential.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
Throughout the program, it was evident that CPMS education extends far beyond academics. Music, arts, dance, play, and life skills are treated not as extras, but as essential elements of development.
As Bathan shared: โThrough life skills, arts, music, dance, and play, they have discovered that learning is not confined within the walls โ it is lived, expressed, and shared.โ
From the confident young hosts to the harmonious strains of the rondalla, from scout badges to inclusion programs, the Recognition Ceremony reflected a community committed to holistic formation.
At Childrenโs Paradise Montessori School, recognition is not merely about grades, medals, or trophies. It is about nurturing children who are independent thinkers, compassionate friends, responsible citizens, and, indeed, hope and promise for mankind.
