Benedict’s Monastery at Cebu is established at Corte, Carmen in the Archdiocese of Cebu, in a mountainous area with a panoramic natural landscape. north of Cebu city and 6 Km uphill from Carmen town, in a small village named CORTE. The monastery belongs to the Sylvestrine Congregation, a monastic reform movement in the Benedictine monastic world that took place in the eastern-central Italy in the

early 13th century. The Philippine mission was opened under the patronage of the Abbot General and the General Curia in 1999 by the monks of the Conventual Priory of St. God in his providence has made the community grow with native vocations from the Philippines. The monastery has been raised to the status of a Foundation in the year 2005 and will become a Conventual Priory once it has sufficient members and means for existence. Today the monastery is a centre of prayer, confession, counselling, healing and pilgrimage with hundreds of pilgrims flocking to the monastery, Our Lady of Manaoag Rosary Center, Divine Mercy Center and the Oratory of St.

Prayer during natural disasters

Dear Lord Jesus, only begotten son of the Father, during your earthly life, you walked in the awareness that you are the Son of the Father, and that all creation belonged to the Father. You walked over the sea, commanded stormy winds to obedience and made the fish carry a coin for you. Even though you have made us sons and daughters of the Father, we have often allowed ourselves to be estranged with our own selves, with one another, with planet earth and with you, our loving Lord. Whenever we don’t obey your commandments, there is chaos in our hearts. That chaos in our hearts seems to be mirrored in nature too. Far from having a dominion over nature, we find ourselves dominated and subdued. During this present time of natural disaster, we pray that you may give the word of command to earth, wind and sea, ordering them to be quiet. Send abundant help to the people who have lost their loved ones, and those who have lost all that they have built over a lifetime, together with their dreams and aspirations. Protect our land from further dangers and empower us to rebuild what is damaged. Inspire in our hearts the generosity to forget our differences and political disunity and to work together. May this occasion lead us be reconciled with you and to live in harmony with all of your creation. Hear our prayers by the merits of your cross and resurrection. We join our prayers with those that rise from the Immaculate heart of our Blessed Mother. Amen.
