Benedict’s Monastery at Cebu is established at Corte, Carmen in the Archdiocese of Cebu, in a mountainous area with a panoramic natural landscape. north of Cebu city and 6 Km uphill from Carmen town, in a small village named CORTE. The monastery belongs to the Sylvestrine Congregation, a monastic reform movement in the Benedictine monastic world that took place in the eastern-central Italy in the

early 13th century. The Philippine mission was opened under the patronage of the Abbot General and the General Curia in 1999 by the monks of the Conventual Priory of St. God in his providence has made the community grow with native vocations from the Philippines. The monastery has been raised to the status of a Foundation in the year 2005 and will become a Conventual Priory once it has sufficient members and means for existence. Today the monastery is a centre of prayer, confession, counselling, healing and pilgrimage with hundreds of pilgrims flocking to the monastery, Our Lady of Manaoag Rosary Center, Divine Mercy Center and the Oratory of St.

With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Rev. Fr. Thomas Thekkumthottam, OSB, who was called to his eternal reward in the early morning of June 14, 2025, following a heart attack.
Born on December 19, 1948, Fr. Thomas dedicated his life to God through religious profession on June 12, 1970, and priestly ordination on December 15, 1977. As a beloved spiritual father, gifted retreat master, talented artist and inspiring teacher, he touched innumerable lives through his profound humility, joyful spirit, and wise counsel.
Funeral Arrangements:
The mortal remains will be brought to St. Joseph's Monastery, Makkiyad, India, by 12:30 PM today (Philiipine time)
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on June 15, 2025 at 6:30 PM (Philippine time) at the monastery.
While we grieve this unexpected loss, we celebrate his remarkable legacy of faith, compassion, and creative ministry that continues to inspire us all.
"Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen."
