4TH BRIDGE WILL BEGIN CONSTRUCTION WITHIN THIS YEAR!

4th CEBU-MACTAN bridge and Mandaue Coastal Road, linking Mandaue City and Lapu-Lapu City worth β‚±76.4 Billion. The bridge is around 3.3 km long with 4 lanes and bike lanes is set to begin construction by 2025 and is expected to be completed by 2028.

LOOK: A new global record has been set in Cebu as PlayFair officially earned recognition from the Guinness World Records for operating the world’s largest claw machine.

The machine, dubbed the Claw King, was unveiled on July 5, 2025, at Tops Lookout in Busay, Cebu City. According to official measurements, the structure stands 5.4 meters tall, 2.7 meters deep, and 3.8 meters wideβ€”surpassing the previous record holder, the Santa Claw by Real Art Design (USA) in 2011, which measured 5.1 meters in height, 2.4 meters in depth, and 3.6 meters in width.

The Guinness World Record recognition adds another notable achievement for Cebu, highlighting the city's growing presence in unique recreational attractions.

LOOK: MACTAN CEBU INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AUTHORITY OPENS SECOND PARALLEL RUNWAY

The Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) proudly announces the official opening of its second parallel runway today, marking a major milestone in the airport’s expansion and modernization efforts. The new runway welcomed its maiden flights this morning at 0334H with the arrival of flight 7C2177 from Incheon and at 0342H with the departure of flight 5J 5108 to Kansai.

The parallel runway has a total length of 2,560 meters, a new perpendicular taxiway length of 237 meters with 23 meters in taxiway width. It will be used when the main runway is closed during emergencies, runway closures, maintenance, etc., while guaranteeing airport operations continue without interruptions.

With these improvements, MCIA is not only positioned to handle growing air traffic but is also setting a new standard for world-class airports in the region.

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) is eyeing Cebu as a potential home venue for Gilas Pilipinas games, with plans to utilize the soon-to-be-inaugurated, state-of-the-art SM Seaside Arena. Impressed by reports that the new stadium in Cebu City's South Road Properties surpasses even the SM Mall of Asia Arena, the SBP is considering hosting Gilas home games outside Metro Manila.

With the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Asia Qualifiers beginning in November 2025, the SBP has already discussed the possibility with SM management. SBP president Al Panlilio indicated a strong likelihood of hosting a game there, potentially as early as the February window next year or later in 2026, citing the venue's superior facilities, including a practice court.

Gilas is scheduled to face formidable opponents like Australia, New Zealand, and Guam in the World Cup qualifiers under a home-and-away format.
