Photographed by Larry Pannell, this powerful image captures the final breath of a lion—the king of the savannah.
"We found him lying in the grass, exhausted and unable to move. We were no more than a meter away when he died in the shade of a tree. I dropped my camera. We looked at each other, closed our eyes… and just stood in silence.
He was struggling to breathe, his chest rising only now and then. One last twitch—and then, silence. The king was gone."
Life is short. Power is fleeting. Beauty fades. No matter how mighty, all living beings will one day grow fragile.
So let's be humble, kind, and present. Help the sick, care for the weak, and never forget: one day, we all leave the stage.
