When you first hit play on Cosmic Kid’s debut album, you’re hit with a wall of sound — in-your-face guitars, punchy drums, and vocals that both float through your eardrums and scream into your face. Frontman and bassist Wes Bacareza waxes poetic about the push-and-pull of adult life; monotony, nostalgia for better days, working jobs that are less than fulfilling. This push-and-pull is arguably the heart of the record, aptly titled ‘Maladjustment.’

Earlier this week, Cebuano artist, entrepreneur, and overall supporter of local art and music Marvin Viagedor passed away.

Viagedor, who was also fondly called Big Marvin, provided a safe and supportive space for local bands through Kaya Music Studio and Jahwarma Cafe. This Sunday, his friends and the music community are organizing a tribute fundraising event to help Viagedor’s family get through this tough time.

Coast2Coast is one with the Cebuano music community in mourning the loss of an individual who was passionate about music. Fundraising details, as well as direct donation QR codes, are available above.

Marabiles is best known as the frontman of landmark reggae band, Junior Kilat. He was also an electronic musician and DJ, performing as budoyX.
