I’ve always believed in following my gut especially as a mother and it’s times like this I don’t mind the “criticisms” because I know why I’m doing it and who I’m doing it for.

Yes, we’ve delayed potty training and we’ve waited ‘til North said he was ready (and he’s getting there) but in the mean time, what’s there to worry about anyways? has never failed us plus, it’s affordable and an investment we’re willing to make.

I grew up writing love stories, essays and day dreaming of being swept off into the sunset by my knight in shining armor. I wish I could go back and remind myself that while that's great and all, I didn't need saving. I just needed to love myself a little harder 🫣

6 years ago we launched Bayhana on

I often wondered how North would feel about me when the time comes that he sees his mom's digital footprint. I wondered if I would talk about my Bayhana experience with pride or if I would tiptoe around it.

But honestly, I look at these posters with extreme pride. This was such a transformative time in my life and for so many people online. It gave me the chance to open conversations that needed to be had, and just importantly, to listen and learn.

One day, North will discover this side of me. And I hope he’ll know that his mom wanted to challenge the system, create space for dialogue, and show him that he never has to conform, hide, or feel shame for being his authentic self.

I carry so much love and gratitude for everyone I met through Bayhana, and I’ll always look back at this chapter with fondness. ♥️

Maybe one day there will be room for another season of Bayhana. But until then—we’re still having fun, right? 🤪
