Imagine a world where potential meets power, where every action is a push to a brighter future. In line with the 3rd SDG of Good Health and Well-being, The Balance Project of 8-OLMC's Group 9 aims to help improve the health of citizens, one community at a time. 50-60% of people all across the globe suffer from different diseases which prevents them from doing their normal routines and daily tasks. We strongly believe that good health and well-being promotes more productive people and progressive societies which helps us build a better future for everyone.
Thousands, and even millions of young leaders every single day are being held back from their talent and potential because they suffer from diseases and mental distress. Firstly, we need to understand that good health is the ultimate key to a happier life and that it is a building block for our young leaders in this present society. With a good mind and strong limbs, whether you believe it or not, it greatly increases our mood, helping us become more productive. Good physical health can lead to better mental health and good mental health can lead to better physical health as well, because, if we take a look at the 5 aspects of holistic health then we can see that if we are able to improve one, we can improve all. You see, it works like this: Having good physical health makes us more capable of doing things, and the knowledge of knowing our abilities can improve our mental health and also affect us emotionally in a positive way. This also alters our spiritual health because it leads you to contemplate deeper about your abilities, and as you get to know yourself more then surely, you can improve your social interactions as well. This process goes for all the 5 aspects of holistic health no matter what you start with.
All individuals deserve the chance to excel and create a positive change in this world, and creating a positive change starts with you. So, to start on your journey to better health, the most obvious solution is to eat healthy. A well-balanced diet improves your health and gives your body all the nutrients it needs to function well. Secondly, get enough sleep. If we can complete 8-10 hours of sleep, our brain can work well and gain enough rest when we wake up, keeping us pumped as we do our daily activities. And lastly, the most expected, is building healthy habits and having good hygiene. Good hygiene reduces the risk of gaining infections and viruses which helps us save our money from pricey medicine and saves us the agonizing price of experiencing headaches and nausea.
Letโs not leave behind our friends, family, and community members so we must host simple programs to help the people around us. Building a healthier and happier world doesnโt take one person, but it takes the hands of everyone. Our health also affects the people around us, so letโs show them good habits for them to follow. Firstly, host fun and healthy cooking demos in order to motivate our citizens to learn how to cook healthy food for themselves, and consume only whatโs best for our body. Truly, itโs not easy to have good self control as we have sweet temptations, but we can overcome all of this through yoga, meditation, and prayer. Yes. A big yes that prayer, too, holds a big role in transforming our health. Dancing is also another way of healthy exercise because as we guide our feet to match the beat of the music, we are able to exercise our muscles and have a positive self image and build confidence. Lastly, hosting community marathons can be effective because we are able to train the muscles in our legs. Helping us run faster and giving us the opportunity to run fast in any situation where itโs needed.
We must eliminate unhealthy habits because this completely resets our progress in building a healthier body. Cheat days do exist, so donโt pressure yourself too much and continue to build healthy habits along the way so that you are able to practice these in your everyday life, letting it come naturally. If we want a better society then we need better leaders. These leaders must be knowledgeable with a voice, hardworking with dedication, and healthy with a burning passion. So letโs be these leaders and start now. Josenians, let's build ourselves to be those leaders to teach and sway others to do good things and have healthy habits. Infect others with good habits, not viruses.
