Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival has announced the temporary suspension of all face-to-face classes in both public and private schools across Cebu City on February 5, 2026, following recommendations from the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and weather advisories from PAGASA.
The suspension covers all levels, including early childhood, elementary, secondary, tertiary, technical-vocational, and graduate programs. Schools have been directed to shift to modular learning systems and other alternative learning modes in line with DepEd, CHED, and TESDA guidelines.
The move is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and school personnel amid possible heavy rainfall and flooding caused by Tropical Depression Basyang.
Authorities will continue to monitor the situation and release updates through official channels. Residents are advised to remain cautious and prioritize safety.
