๐๐๐๐๐ | CoEd Faculty, Pre-Service Representative join Capacity Enhancement Training on the Reframed Pre-Service Teacher Education Curriculum
Representatives from Lapu-Lapu City College (LLCC) actively participated in the Capacity Enhancement for Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) in Implementing the Reframed Pre-Service Teacher Education Curriculum held from October 13โ15, 2025, at the Cebu Quincentennial Hotel, Cebu City.
Organized by the Teacher Education Council (TEC), the three-day capacity enhancement program aimed to strengthen the competencies of Professional Education (ProfEd) educators, pre-service teachers, and TEI administrators in effectively implementing the newly approved Reframed Pre-Service Teacher Education Curriculum, formally adopted in May 2025.
The program opened with sessions on Setting the Context of the Reframed Curriculum, Building Teacher Capacity for Targeted Learning, and Application of the Science of Learning, led by experts from the Teacher Education Council, Innovation for Poverty Action (IPA), and the University of New England. These discussions established a strong foundation for understanding the curriculumโs framework and the integration of research-based and inclusive teaching practices.
Succeeding sessions delved into The Reframed Pre-Service Teacher Education Curriculum: Expectations for Teacher Educators, Overview of the Reframed Professional Education Courses Syllabus Guides, and Ensuring Constructive Alignment in Instruction. Facilitated by specialists from the Philippine Normal University (PNU), these workshops allowed participants to analyze course alignment and instructional design approaches anchored on the curriculumโs guiding principles.
The final series of sessions centered on Implementing the Reframed Teacher Education Curriculum: Key Considerations for Teacher Education Institutions, Evaluation of the Content of the Capacity Enhancement, and a Train-Back Workshop (Sharing What Weโve Learned). Facilitators from the Teacher Education Council Secretariat and the Quality Pre-Service Teacher Education Office guided the participants in collaborative reflection and institutional planning to sustain curriculum innovation.
Education specialists and academic consultants from partner institutions shared research-based insights and practical frameworks for effective curriculum design and delivery. Participants also engaged in interactive workshops, deep dives on course syllabi, and collaborative activities emphasizing reflective practice and institutional alignment.
The college was represented by faculty members specializing in key areas of teacher education, together with a pre-service teacher, ensuring holistic participation in the training. Representing the institution were Dr. Marsha H. Malbas, Dean of the College of Education (The Teacher as a Person and as a Professional); Mrs. Mary Jane A. Obispo, Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) Program Chair (Learner Assessment); Mr. Aldrin G. Donasco, Bachelor of Elementary Education ( BEEd) Program Chair (Foundations of Teaching and Learning); Mr. James Liven B. Amoro, Research Development Office (RDO) Coordinator and Quality Assurance (QA) Officer (Theories and Approaches in Literacy Education); and Mrs. Ma. Kristel Q. Amoro, Community Extension and Services Linkages (CESL) Coordinator (Human Growth and Development).
They were also joined by faculty members Ms. Shena Marie T. Pescador (Learner-Centered Teaching) and Ms. Maricel S. Dela Cruz (Principles and Practices of Homeroom Guidance), along with pre-service teacher Mr. Gerard Kyle D. Amistad from the Bachelor of Secondary Education ( BSEd) major in Mathematics program.
Throughout the event, LLCC representatives actively participated in discussions and collaborative learning sessions that deepened their understanding of the reframed curriculum and its classroom application. Their engagement reflected the Collegeโs commitment to advancing teacher education and contributing to the broader national effort to elevate the standards of teacher preparation.
This participation underscores Lapu-Lapu City Collegeโs dedication to promoting quality and transformative teacher education, in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, by empowering educators and fostering evidence-based teaching practices for globally competent Filipino teachers.
