A Manananggal is a terrifying creature from Filipino folklore that appears as a beautiful woman by day but transforms at night by detaching her upper torso from her lower half, growing bat-like wings, and flying to hunt for victims, often pregnant women, using a long, straw-like tongue to eat fetuses or drink blood. Her vulnerable lower half, left behind, can be defeated by sprinkling it with salt, garlic, or ash before sunrise, preventing her from rejoining and killing her.
