She didn't fall because she lost...

She fell because she made history. 🇵🇭❤️

The moment Alex Eala realized she had become the first Filipina to win a WTA 500 title.

After defeating world-class opponents and overcoming a rain-delayed final against Jessica Pegula, Alex stood at the top of Philippine tennis history.

But the most powerful moment wasn't just the trophy.

It was the hug with her father.

Behind every victory is a story of sacrifice, belief, and the people who stood with you along the way.

🇵🇭❤️ History doesn't always announce itself.

Sometimes it happens one point at a time.

Congratulations to Alex Eala on another incredible milestone after defeating Naomi Osaka.

Beyond the scoreboard, this is a story of resilience, courage, and believing in yourself when the world is watching.

This moment deserved a soundtrack.

After spending the past few days creating stories for others, I wanted to share a small reminder from my own story.

There are moments in life that remind you why you started.

This morning, I had the privilege of being a guest on **FIL-AM Radyo Show**, broadcasting live from Seattle, Washington through Rainier Avenue Radio with Kuya Bert Caoili, Tita Miles Salvador, Vicky Navarro, and Norb Caoili.

As the show opened with **Stand Up Eight**, I realized something...

It had been years since I last had the opportunity to sit down and simply talk about my songs, the stories behind them, and why I write.

We talked about music, entrepreneurship, **DMV Storybooks**, storytelling, resilience, and how life's twists and turns eventually found their way into my songs. We also discussed **DMV Studios**, the creative process behind my cinematic music videos, and why I believe technology will always be at its best when it serves a story worth telling.

I also had the chance to perform **Harbor** live and share some of the inspiration behind my songwriting journey.

If you missed the live broadcast, you can watch the full replay here:

After the show, I wrote a personal reflection about the experience and what it reminded me about my journey as a songwriter and storyteller.

A heartfelt thank you to **Kuya Bert Caoili**, **Tita Miles Salvador**, **Vicky Navarro**, and **Norb Caoili** for the warm welcome, wonderful conversations, and for continuing to support original Filipino music and independent artists around the world.

Today reminded me that, no matter what form it takes—songs, books, films, or conversations—I've always loved telling stories.

Until the next one. ❤️🎸

Nine years ago, I wrote a song inspired by an old Japanese proverb:

**"Fall down seven. Stand up eight."**

Over the years, life gave those words a deeper meaning than I ever imagined.

Today, I'm finally sharing the official cinematic music video.

This isn't a story about winning.

It's about choosing to get back up one more time than life knocks you down.

I hope this film reminds you that no matter where you are in your journey...

Your story isn't over yet.

Growing up in the early '80s, there was one movie I could never ignore whenever it came on TV.

**Rocky.**

Like so many kids, I watched him train, fight, and overcome impossible odds. But believe it or not, one of my strongest memories wasn't the famous run up the steps or the training montage...

It was Rocky cracking **four raw eggs into a glass and drinking them.** 🥚😂

Seven-year-old me thought, "Maybe that's how you get strong!"

So I tried drinking one raw egg myself.

Let's just say... it did **not** go well. 🤢🤣

That's how much that movie captured my imagination.

Fast forward many years later...

When I watched the trailer for **I Play Rocky**, I realized this wasn't another Rocky movie.

It was the incredible story **behind** the story.

The story of Sylvester Stallone refusing to sell his screenplay unless **he** got to become Rocky.

When he said he wouldn't give up the script—not for a million dollars... not even for ten—I got goosebumps.

Because before the world believed in Rocky...

Stallone had already decided to believe in himself.

As I watched, something else hit me.

Rocky says,

> "I've got to have faith in myself."

And immediately I thought of the chorus I wrote years ago:

🎵 *"Just have faith in your soul...
When you fail and the world says no..."*

That's when I knew I had to put the two together.

Not because **Stand Up Eight** was written for *Rocky*...

But because they share the same heartbeat.

Hope.

Resilience.

Choosing to stand back up after life knocks you down.

I created this Short as a tribute to that spirit, and I hope it encourages someone today who needs the reminder:

**Fall down seven. Just stand up eight.** ❤️

After the unexpected journey of "Stand Up Eight" reaching new listeners this week, I wanted to share something different.

Not just a song.

But the story behind one.

"Harbor" has always been a special song to me.

It started with a guitar chord and an image of Manila Bay — couples watching the sunset, ships searching for safe places to dock, and a person looking back at a love he realized he had lost.

In this video, I share my songwriting process and explain why certain words, images, and melodies exist in the song.

Why a harbor is not just a place.

Why a compass is more than a direction.

Why an empty room can actually be filled with years of memories.

And why the final word "entwined" had to become an echo.

I hope this gives you a glimpse into how I create songs.

The songs have been waiting a long time to find their listeners. ❤️
