"Akala Nila Madali"

Akala ng iba, madali lang maging freelancer. "Wow, work from home! Swerte mo naman!" Nasa bahay ka lang daw, naka shorts habang kumikita. Walang traffic, walang boss na sumisigaw. Pero sa totoo lang… hindi ‘to madali.

Yong iba sasabihin: “Uy, work from home ka na? Yaman mo na siguro.” Pero kung alam lang nila ang totoo… hindi 'to walk in the park. Ang hindi nila alam sa umpisa pa lang, gastos na agad. Kailangan ng maayos na laptop, stable internet, headset na may noise cancellation. Yung iba, umutang muna para lang makapagsimula.

Tapos nung nalaman nilang naka-homebased ka na, akala nila big time ka na agad. “Libre ka na siguro, utang muna ako, madami ka namang pera d'yan.” Pero ang totoo? Hindi pa nga ikaw nakakabayad sa bills.

At dahil nasa bahay lang, lahat ng tao feeling free kang istorbohin.
"Pakisampay nga"
"Pakibantay nga muna"
"Pwede ka siguro bantay ng tindahan"
"Eh di ba trabaho mo sa laptop lang?"

Nakaka-burnout.
Walang boundary.
Hindi nila alam—kada rejection sa proposal, may kirot. Kada Zoom interview, may kaba.
At ‘pag wala pa ring client pagkatapos ng lahat ng effort mo, minsan gusto mo na lang sumuko. Kahit walang client, parang may trabaho ka sa kaka apply at kaka edit ng resume at portfolio mo.
Hindi ito masayadong madali, pero worth it. May oras ka sa pamilya, at may dignidad ka sa kinikita mo.

I used to post every single day.
