Construction of the much-anticipated Samal Island–Davao City Connector (SIDC) Bridge continues to move steadily forward, with the project now reaching 57.338% overall completion based on the latest DPWH report.
Major accomplishments include the completion of bored piling works for the west and east land viaducts, the west marine viaduct, and the main navigational bridge. Meanwhile, bored piling operations for the Davao approach ramp remain ongoing. Concrete pouring for the two main bridge piers has also been completed, while installation of formworks for the box girders supporting the bridge deck is now underway.
The 4.76-kilometer, four-lane, toll-free extradosed bridge will connect Davao City and Samal Island across the Pakiputan Strait, significantly improving mobility and accessibility in the region. Once completed, travel time between the two areas will be reduced from around 55 minutes via ferry to approximately 4.5 minutes by land travel.
Targeted for completion in 2028, the SIDC Bridge is expected to become one of Mindanao’s landmark infrastructure projects—boosting tourism, trade, and economic growth for both Davao City and Samal Island.
