Vice President Sara Duterte criticized the conduct of prosecutors and some senators in her ongoing impeachment trial, saying the proceedings have been marked by political theatrics, speculation, and personal attacks rather than evidence.

She cited several remarks made during the trial, including Sen. Raffy Tulfo’s description of witness Gina Acosta as “stupid in the name of blind loyalty.” Duterte also pointed to private prosecutor Atty. Mae Divinagracia’s characterization of her alleged involvement in the confidential funds controversy as the “mastermind of a scam,” as well as references to her as a “brat” during the testimony of NBI Director Melvin Matibag.

Duterte made the remarks on the 19th day of her impeachment trial. The Articles of Impeachment center on allegations involving the misuse of confidential funds, unexplained wealth, bribery, and grave threats against other officials.
