Intramuros, the second time around! ✨

Exploring Intramuros, Manila, with two of the promising journalists from Davao—Ez and Nov—where every corner offers a glimpse into the country’s history, culture, and enduring stories.

Known as the “Walled City,” Intramuros is home to historic landmarks such as Fort Santiago, the Manila Cathedral, San Agustin Church, Casa Manila, and Baluarte de San Diego.

Visitors can walk or ride a cycle rickshaw, or carriage along centuries-old walls, explore museums and old Spanish-era structures, and see how Manila’s colonial past is preserved in the area. 🏛️📖

DAVAO TO HOST FIRST FULL IRONMAN 🏊‍♀️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♀️

LOOK: Davao City is set to make sports history as it hosts the first full-distance Ironman Philippines race in Mindanao on June 13, 2027, alongside IRONMAN 70.3 Davao.

The announcement was made by Sunrise Events Inc. and the Davao City Government during the launching of the sports event and the IRONMAN Philippines Davao press conference on Sept. 8.

Full IRONMAN will challenge athletes to a grueling 226-kilometer course: a 3.8km swim, 180km bike, and 42.2km run, while IRONMAN 70.3 Davao triathlons will continue with the 1.9km swim, 90km bike, and 21.1km run.

The course will center on the Davao City Coastal Road and Bago Aplaya Esplanade, with athletes expected to race with views of the Davao Gulf and Mount Apo. TARAAA! 🤩

Registration opened Tuesday, with nearly 400 people registered by 2 p.m. The full-distance race has participants from 15 countries, while IRONMAN 70.3 Davao has participants from 13 countries.

The full-distance race will offer 40 to 50 slots for the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, while the 70.3 race will offer qualifying slots for the World Championship in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Organizers said the race weekend will feature both full- and half-distance events, along with team and special categories, including RLC Ironkids Davao City.

For Davao, the event is expected to boost sports tourism and the local economy further as athletes, families, and international visitors come to the city.

A different taste of Davao. 🍇🍷

Spent Friday afternoon at Taglucop Estate Vineyard & Winery in Tugbok, Davao City, for a wine tasting and basic vineyard-learning session with Davao tourism stakeholders and barangay officials.

The activity, organized by Ces Travel & Tours and Infinity Travel & Tours, gave us a closer look at grape cultivation, winemaking, wine tasting, and food pairing.

Beyond the learning session, what I enjoyed most was discovering another side of Davao—one that brings together agriculture, food, wine, nature, and the countryside.

It’s interesting to see how emerging destinations like Taglucop Estate can add new experiences to Davao’s tourism landscape while creating opportunities for local communities.

There’s definitely more to explore in Davao. And sometimes, you don’t have to go far to discover something new. Tara! 🍷🌿

BUILDING FUTURE 🛠️⚙️

LOOK: PHILCONSTRUCT Mindanao 2026 opens at the SMX Convention Center in Davao City on Thursday, Sept. 3, bringing together companies and professionals from the construction, engineering, and architecture sectors for its 15th edition.

The three-day exhibition organized by the Philippine Constructors Association, running until Sept. 5, carries the theme “Smarter. Stronger. Sustainable.” and showcases products, technologies, and solutions for construction and development projects.

LAST DAY TODAY! 📄✍️

HAPPENING NOW: Stationery enthusiasts, artists, and journal lovers have one more day to explore the Davao Pen and Stationery Fest 2026, the city’s first festival dedicated to pens, stationery, journaling, and creative expression.

Held at Seda Abreeza Hotel along J.P. Laurel Avenue in Bajada, Davao City, the two-day event brings together independent makers, artists, journal creators, and creative enthusiasts from Davao and other parts of the country.

Visitors can browse pens, journals, paper products, stickers, stamps, art materials, crafts, and other creative supplies, while workshops and activities offer opportunities to learn and connect with fellow creatives.

Today’s lineup includes brush calligraphy, glass-pen writing, journal annotation, travel journaling, and mark-making activities. Workshops will run from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Board Rooms Abel 2 and Abel 3. The festival opens at 10 a.m. Tara! 📒🖋️

The coin features Davao City’s Kadayawan Festival, which celebrates nature's abundance and the rich, colorful culture of the Davaoeños.

It is the eighth coin in the BSP's “Pista sa Pilipinas” Commemorative Coin Series, which consists of 12 silver coins. The series highlights various cultural and tourism festivals across the Philippines.

🪙 Limited supply. The coin will be available exclusively through the BSP Online Store.

REMINDER: Walk-in orders will no longer be accepted at the BSP Store (The BSP Hub in Malate, Manila).

Each commemorative coin will be sold for P5,000 and will have a legal tender value of P100. | BSP
