Rhenz Abando, Zavier Lucero, RJ Abarrientos, and Troy Rosario have been added to the Gilas Pilipinas pool for the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Head coach Tim Cone emphasized that the inclusion of the four was in line with FIBA's requirement to submit an extended roster, keeping options open ahead of the tournament set for August 5 to 17.
The core 12-man lineup handpicked by Cone features Justin Brownlee, June Mar Fajardo, Scottie Thompson, Chris Newsome, Carl Tamayo, Kevin Quiambao, Dwight Ramos, CJay Perez, Calvin Oftana, Jamie Malonzo, and the injured Kai Sotto—whose spot will now be filled by veteran Japeth Aguilar.
Despite the current list, Cone made it clear that no roster spot is guaranteed, saying, “The 12 we are bringing is not written in stone. We could have some last-minute changes.”
