Some of the most exhausting seasons in marriage come from trying to change a person who was never yours to change.
You watch the habits, the silence, the immaturity, and you convince yourself that if you push hard enough, say it right enough, or love sacrificially enough, they will finally become who you know they can be.
But control was never your assignment.
Influence is not the same as force, and prayer is not the same as pressure.
God does not need your grip on your spouse.
He needs your surrender of them.
When you step back from managing their growth and step into interceding for it, something shifts, not always in them first, but in you.
Ephesians 5:26 shows us the pattern: Christ sanctifies through His word, His presence, His patience, not through force.
If you are carrying the burden of supporting your spouse's growth and alignment into the will of God for their life, I want you to learn one thing today - that your grip is not on them, but on God.
Hold them down but in God through faith and prayer.
Because even if God leaves the job for you, you cannot do it better than He will.
