Daghan nag-ingon sa una nga ''No experience'' or ''Student pa man ka.''
Halos tanan pultahan sirado. Little did I know, kani nga rejection ang mag-push nako sa VA world.

I started my journey as a Virtual Assistant because life called to me through necessity. Years ago, my father was diagnosed with cancer, and his eventual passing left my mother, my sister, and me struggling to stay afloat.

At the time, I was a student freshly out of high school.
Even with a scholarship, it wasn't enough to cover our mounting expenses.
I did what anyone would do: I turned to family, friends, churches, temples, businesses and local organizations for help. One by one, they turned me away.

Vibes are a Guess. Discovery is Data.
Kasuway na mo atong post nga nag-ingon nga "sayang lang ang discovery calls" kay ma-feel naman daw nimo ang vibes sa tao?

As an introvert and a business partner for 10 years, I disagree.
Ang discovery call dili na "audition", it’s about alignment.

The Interview vs. The Discovery Call
Daghan ang ga-avoid ani kay feeling nila "interview" na pud. Pero lahi jud sila:

The Interview: Audition ni. Ginatestingan ka. One-way and high-pressure.

The Discovery Call: Diagnostic ni. Ginatestingan ang project. Two partners auditing a problem para mahibal-an kung kaya ba ninyo i-solve together.

Maski unsa pa ka "polished" imong resume, dili na guarantee of a smooth workflow. On the flip side, ang usa ka beginner basin wala pay achievements, pero naa diay silay exact systems nga kailangan nimo. Discovery calls allow the work to speak for itself.

Real Talk: Person A vs. Person B

- Person A (The "Bar Fight"): Hired via middleman, zero discovery.
Result: Zero context. Murag ko’g nisulod sa bar fight nga wala kaila sa mga players. Mao ni rason ngano mag-stall ang project—walay alignment, puro guesswork.

- Person B (The "Brief"): 20-minute discovery call + detailed brief.
Result: The document is the "what," but the call is the "who." Nahimo siyang shared mission instead of a sterile list of demands.

Why this matters for Introverts & Founders:
Ayaw tan-awa ang call as a "performance." View it as Human Onboarding.

For the Introvert: Kini imong armor. It gives you the "source code" para dili ma-drain imong battery sige og tagna-tagna (guessing).

For the Founder: Kini imong insurance. It ensures your partner understands your "why" before the work begins.

The AI Comparison:
Murag prompt sa AI. If muingon lang ka og "Write a post," walay sense ang resulta. Pero if tagaan nimo og context ug stories, you get a collaborator.

The Bottom Line:
Discovery isn't just a vibe check, it’s data. Mao ni ang way para dili lang ta "line item" sa budget, kundi tinuod nga partner.

P.S. Mao bitaw naay mag-complain ngano walay sense ang AI.
They treat it like a vending machine instead of doing the "discovery" work.

Having some experience on the recruitment side, I get it. Usahay 'hidden' ang details because the client is still undecided or they want to avoid spam.
I understand the 'why.'

But at the end of the day, it reflects poorly on the brand. 🚩
It makes the candidate look unprepared and the recruiter look like they don't have their act together. 10 years in this game has taught me that clarity is a magnet for top talent.
