LOOK | Davao unveils ‘Tourist Passport,’ a first-of-its-kind program to boost regional tourism
The Davao Tourism Association, in partnership with the Department of Tourism Region XI and local industry stakeholders, has launched the Davao Tourist Passport, an innovative program offering exclusive perks and discounts across the region beginning in 2026. The initiative marks a new milestone in Davao’s tourism development, aiming to create a unified platform that rewards both local and visiting travelers. Officials said the passport will serve as a yearlong invitation to rediscover the beauty, flavors, and culture of the Davao Region.
The passport will feature exclusive offers from participating businesses in travel, dining, shopping, lodging, guided tours, and even medical services. It is designed to encourage more visitors to explore destinations beyond the city center and into the greater region of Davao. It offers not just destinations, but a curated collection of experiences and rewards that showcase the region’s diversity, warmth, and innovation. Tourism leaders believe the program will drive economic activity, strengthen local partnerships, and inspire repeat visits throughout the year.
DATA president Nicole Hao Bian-Ledesma, DOT regional director Tanya Rabat-Tan, and other industry representatives said the initiative aims to promote sustainable tourism and support small and medium enterprises. By connecting travelers directly with local establishments, the Davao Tourist Passport highlights the region’s commitment to inclusive growth and authentic experiences. The collaboration also reflects the shared vision of government and private sectors to position Davao as a leading travel destination in Mindanao and the Philippines.
