I recently watched Pastor Peter Tan‑Chi’s powerful interview on Toni Talks, and one moment truly struck me to the core.
He shared his struggle with forgiveness… how he couldn’t have forgiven the person who violated his daughter unless he had personally experienced God’s forgiveness.
“𝙄𝙛 𝙄 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨, 𝙄 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝙄 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙨. 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙙.”
That alone was powerful.
But what hit me even deeper was how God spoke to him in his pain, telling him:
“𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙈𝙮 𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙣, 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨. 𝙎𝙤 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙨, 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢 𝙩𝙤 𝙈𝙚?”
Grabe, ‘no? Paano mo isusuko sa Diyos ang isang sugat na halos wasakin ka? Paano mo bibitawan yung galit, yung sakit, yung kontrol, at sabihing, “Sige Lord, sa’Yo na ito”?
Imagine holding your child’s brokenness… and instead of clinging to justice or control, you turn and surrender.
Not because the pain is healed—that wound remains. Not because it’s easy—nothing about that season was simple.
But because he chose to let God have custody of his heart, his anger, and his family’s future.
That decision transformed everything.
“𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙂𝙤𝙙 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪, 𝙙𝙤 𝙞𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙃𝙞𝙨 𝙜𝙡𝙤𝙧𝙮.”
It’s not just a saying; it’s the way he lives. What a man of God indeed!
Even when life is unfair, even when grief razes your soul… surrender doesn’t mean weakness; it means acknowledging God’s ownership.
And when you truly surrender, grace steps in—
The kind of grace that allows you to forgive the unforgivable. The kind of grace that turns pain into testimony.
It opens the door for God’s power to heal not just the wound, but your heart.
This mirrored the heart of Christ, who, even on the cross, chose forgiveness: “𝙁𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧, 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢”
This is not blind faith.
This is surrendered trust forged in suffering—
Letting go of hurt.
Letting go of the right to control.
Letting God write the story.
Real surrender isn’t about forgetting the harm; it’s refusing to let it define you.
It’s about giving God full custody of your pain and watching His redemption work through it.
That’s the kind of faith I want.
That’s the kind of faith that pleases the Father.
Not loud, not perfect, but surrendered.
That’s the God who’s truly sovereign—
And His glory shines brightest in surrendered hearts 🥹🙌🏼
