Davao City's EV Ordinance: A First in the Philippines πŸ’šβš‘πŸ”‹πŸš—πŸšŒ

The 21st City Council has officially passed the Davao City EV Ordinance, proposed by Councilor Tek Ocampo. This landmark legislation grants incentives to electric vehicle manufacturers, dealers, users, and public conveyance operators. It also extends support to spare parts suppliers, charging stations, and environmentally sound battery disposal and recycling facilities.

This move is expected to provide a boost to the electric vehicle sector in Davao City, aligning with the city’s strategic push to transform its fleet into EVs.

Once fully implemented, the Davao Public Transport Modernization Project-DavaoBus is expected to employ approximately 3,000 bus drivers.

Priority will be given to affected Public Utility Jeepney (PUJ) drivers, who also have the option to endorse family members in their stead. In addition to receiving standardized pay, drivers will operate under a three-shift system with eight-hour schedules. This structure ensures continuous transport services throughout the city while significantly easing the workload for drivers.

Hopefully, with the new lead counsel for FPRRD, Peter Haynes, the defense will be even stronger. God willing, his acquittal and release will come sooner. Kudos to the great effort of his former counsel, Atty. Kaufman.

Haynes served as lead counsel for Jean-Pierre Bemba, the former vice president of the Democratic Republic of Congo, from 2010 to 2018, when the International Criminal Court (ICC) Appeals Chamber overturned Bemba's conviction for war crimes and crimes against humanity in 2018. It was one of the few full acquittals ever secured at the ICC.

The 11 representatives of the Davao Region have spoken: five (5) are against the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte, one (1) abstained, and five (5) are in favor.

During the first impeachment attempt against VP Sara in 2025, only the representative of Davao del Sur voted in favor. Now, the two representatives from Davao del Norte and two from Davao de Oro have joined him.

Development of Barangay 23-C "Mini Forest" from 2001 to 2025 (24 years).

Barangay 23-C is a densely populated, coastal barangay in Davao City's Poblacion District with a 2020 census population of around 17,000.

Known for its multicultural community, it includes the high-density coastal area of Isla Verde (partially/visibly separated in the early 2000s). The area is prone to fire incidents, with recent large-scale fires reported in 2014, 2025, and just this May 2026. But residents show resiliency, building and bouncing back again after every tragedy.
