The teaser for the DC Bus units of the City Government of Davao shown a glimpse of the buses' interior features.

Some features seen are: (Based only on observation from the video)
-Wheelchair area, convertible to 2 jump seats. (With retractable ramp on doors)
-Automated Passenger Counter.
-2x3 seating arrangement.
-Stop buttons.
-Grab handles for standing passengers.
-LED strip interior lights

Now these specifications are common on city buses of developed countries. But an automated passenger counter is not often seen on city buses here in the country. This only shows how these buses are truly modern and are 'high-tech'.

These 10 units are expected to arrive by the end of the month or early next month, and be deployed by October. Coming Soon!

Now, DC Bus is not meant to solve the commuting problem of the city. But it is one of the many initiatives of the LGU to help the growing population of the city and to prepare the city for the rollout of DavaoBus in 2027-2028.

Once operational, these buses will serve Dabawenyos alongside Peak Hours Augmentation Bus Service, Love Bus, and OVP Libreng Sakay Programs. Especially with the holiday season fast approaching, these buses will surely benefit Dabawenyo Commuters!

𝐃𝐂 𝐁𝐮𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐟𝐟 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠

A total of 22 Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) Civil Security Guards (CSGs) completed a five-day intensive training from September 15–19 as part of the preparation for the Davao City Interim Bus (DC Bus).

The program, conducted in partnership with the Davao Public Transport Modernization Program (DPTMP), was designed to equip the guards with essential skills to ensure passenger safety. It covered topics on the culture of security, bomb detection awareness, anti-criminality strategies, intelligence gathering, fire prevention, basic life support, and unarmed combat.

Experts from the PSSO, Task Force Davao, Davao City Police Office, Bureau of Fire Protection, and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office served as resource speakers during the training.

The completion of the training marks a significant step forward in the city's preparations for the DC Bus system, ensuring that commuter safety and security remain a top priority. CIO

Opinion: Jeepneys have long been the "king of the road" and the symbol of Filipino identity, a symbol of our culture. A result of ingenuity and resourcefulness of Filipinos. But as time and the world progressed, jeepneys are becoming a thing of the past.

They were helpful in the development of the country and the city during the post-war era. But as the city approaches the 2-million population mark, this makes jeepneys totally inefficient. Even if they are modernized with higher ceilings, electric powertrains, and air conditioners, they could not carry as much as buses.

The essence of road-based mass transport is moving as many people as efficiently as possible. But in the city’s current state, its roads are limited both in width and network. Jeepneys, as nimble as they are, could only carry a third of a modern city bus when in full capacity. If we stick with jeepneys, traffic will only worsen. City buses will need less units to transport more people on the road.

The point is that buses are more efficient and more sustainable in a metropolitan city such as Davao.

While there is the concern of the persons whose livelihood depend on jeepneys, it will be covered by the Social Development Program of the Davao Bus Project. They will be compensated well and be prioritized for employment for the bus system.

There is also the concern for ‘culture’ and ‘identity’. But in our opinion, commuting should not be dependent on culture but on the safety, security, and comfortability of people, which city buses surely provide.

𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞, 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐞𝐝, 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐨 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲.

Recent rankings have once again proved the quality of livability in Davao City, especially in security.

It ranked as the "Best City to Visit in the Philippines" according to World Travel Index (WTI), which is based on several factors such as the cost of overnight stays, restaurant and shopping prices, car rental and gas station prices, as well as the quality of attractions, safety, and infrastructure. The city also remains the 3rd Safest City in Southeast Asia and the Safest in the Philippines, according to Numbeo.com's Safety Index.

This is seen as the result of a relentless "Culture of Security" that has been established in the city for decades. This is especially evident in its integrated 911 System, the diligence of the Davao City Police Office, the proactive and strict approach of its leadership, and the sense of awareness among Dabawenyos.

Hopefully, its ranking in terms of transportation will soon improve, with 10 DC Bus units plying the streets during rush hours this October and the 1,000+ DavaoBus units that are expected to start operations in 2027-2028!
