Canoy denies his coming fight

By Lito delos Reyes

SOUTHPAW Joey “The Babyface” Canoy of General Santos City denied that he has a coming fight with Beaven “The One” Sibanda of Zimbabwe for the vacant WBC Silver Minimumweight title on September 19 in South Africa.

“I am not fighting in South Africa,” said the 33-year-old Canoy.

Canoy [25-5-2, 15KOs] added: “I don't know why it was posted.”

Canoy said that Sanman Boxing president JC Manangquil also learned about the report.

“He just laughed. It's been a long time,” he said.

Canoy has recently outscored Pablito Balidio of Bohol by a unanimous decision last March 14 at Matanao, Davao del Sur.

Canoy also stopped Minh Phat Sam in the 10th round to win the WBC International minimumweight title last April 27, 2025 in Gensan.
