PIA SULTAN KUDARAT: Authorities have confiscated at least 60 unauthorized sirens and blinkers from July 1 to September 11 in various checkpoints across the province, the Sultan Kudarat Police Provincial Office (SKPPO) reported.
The operations were carried out by PNP units, including the Highway Patrol Group and the 1st and 2nd Mobile Force Companies, in response to the directive of Governor Datu Pax Ali Mangudadatu.
The governor ordered strict enforcement of the ban on “wang-wang”.
“If we cannot follow simple laws, how can we follow the laws of the land?” he said.
“Most of them are not from Sultan Kudarat but from neighboring provinces just passing through. Sabi ko sa ating kapulisan, kung walang batas doon sa inyo, pag dumaan kayo ng Sultan Kudarat, merong batas dito,” Mangudadatu added.
SKPPO chief Police Col. Bernard Lao said the campaign will be sustained to ensure road safety and discipline among motorists.
“We will sustain these operations to instill discipline and ensure safety on our roads,” Lao said.
He also encouraged residents to help authorities curb the use of illegal road devices.
“We also urge the public not to hesitate to report violators so we can take immediate action,” he added.
Mangudadatu, meanwhile, thanked Sultan Kudarateños for complying with the policy and reminded visitors to respect the province’s rules.
"When it comes to Sultan Kudarat, everyone is welcome but come with a clean heart. Yun po ang ating policy,” he said.
The report was presented by the SKPPO to the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) during its September 11 meeting.
