This morning, our friends and family in Davao Oriental experienced a magnitude 7.6 earthquake.

Lord, we lift up all our friends and family in Davao Oriental to You. Please shield them from aftershocks and any further harm. Grant them peace that surpasses all understanding, calm their fears, and be their refuge and strength. We pray for the safety of all residents and the wisdom for all rescuers and officials on the ground. Amen.

The “Big One” is said to be a magnitude 7.2 or stronger expected along the West Valley Fault in Metro Manila. Yet a much stronger 7.6 hit Davao Oriental instead. No warning, no sign — only prayer keeps us standing when it comes. Amping ta tanan.
