On July 30, 2025, the people of Barangay Mabugnao in Maragusan, Davao de Oro came together for a special event — a Tree and Bamboo Planting Activity organized by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO). The activity aimed to help protect the environment, prevent disasters like floods and landslides, and promote unity in the community.

The event began early in the morning with the arrival and registration of participants. Many local stakeholders from different sectors in Maragusan came to join the meaningful activity. After registration, the program officially started with a prayer and the singing of the Philippine national anthem, showing respect for the country and the purpose of the event.

A warm welcome message was given to everyone, followed by the rationale of the activity, which explained the importance of planting trees and bamboo in keeping the environment clean, green, and safe. The event also featured inspiring messages from the local chief executive, who shared support for the cause and encouraged everyone to care for nature. A tribal court judge and the DSWD team leader also gave their messages, highlighting unity and bayanihan spirit.

The program ended with a closing remark, and participants listened carefully to the announcement and instructions for the tree and bamboo planting activity. Everyone was excited and ready to do their part in helping nature.

With smiles and teamwork, the participants planted trees and bamboo around the area. This simple but important act showed love for nature and hope for a better and safer future for Maragusan.

It was also participated by DDOSC-Maragusan stakeholders, showing the valuable contribution of the academe in environmental protection efforts.

This activity is a reminder that when people work together, great things can happen — not only for today but also for the next generations.

In celebration of Arbor Day 2025, the faculty and staff of Davao de Oro State College – Maragusan Branch joined a tree planting activity conducted at the college's Farm 2 site in Sitio Narra, Brgy. New Albay. The occasion reminded everyone of how absolutely important each person is in creating a greener, more resilient Maragusan.

Leading the Municipal Arbor Day campaign, the Local Government Unit of Maragusan (LGU) organized the tree planting project. The LGU called on all sectors — barangays, schools, businesses, NGOs, NGAs, youth groups, and Indigenous Peoples communities — to join together for a common objective: to preserve and develop the environment.

With spades, seedlings, and a great sense of purpose, the DDOSC faculty and staff planted trees everywhere in the assigned area. Apart from assisting reforestation, the effort also fostered community bonds and ecological awareness among participants.

Arbor Day 2025 stood for optimism and accountability more than just a tree planting activity. It reminded the people of Maragusan that simple but significant acts of care at the local level begin the process of healing the planet. Planted today, the trees should help future generations by offering shade, pure air, and a better environment.

With the combined efforts of the Maragusan people and organizations like Davao de Oro State College, Maragusan makes a proud step toward a sustainable future. "Let's nurture nature today for a better tomorrow," as the saying goes.

On June 13, 2025, all fourth-year graduating students and second-year moving-up students gathered to celebrate a very special event the Baccalaureate Mass. This occasion was a heartfelt opportunity to thank God for the school year that had passed and to ask for blessings as the students prepared to embark on the next chapter of their lives. The words from 2 Timothy 4:7 echoed in the hearts of all present: “I have fought a good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith.” These words were a powerful reminder of the perseverance and faith required to reach this important milestone.

The Catholic students attended the Mass at Saint Vincent Ferrer Parish, while the Non-Catholic students gathered at Four Square Church. Teachers, parents, and guardians also joined to pray, celebrate, and support the students on this meaningful day.

The Mass began with an opening prayer and songs that set a reverent tone. Scripture readings were shared, followed by a special message from the priest or pastor. They encouraged the students always to strive to be their best, to remain faithful, and to keep praying as they grow and learn more in life. The priest reflected on the verse from 2 Timothy 4:7, inspiring the students to remember that although challenges lie ahead, with faith and determination, they can “fight the good fight,” finish their course, and keep their faith strong throughout their journey.

Each graduating student participated actively by offering prayers, reflections, and words of gratitude. Departments representing the Bachelor of Agricultural Technology (BAT), Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd), Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship (BSE), and Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) shared remarkable testimonies that added depth and meaning to the celebration. Representatives thanked God for His guidance and blessings and expressed their heartfelt appreciation for teachers, classmates, parents, and school staff whose support made their achievements possible.

They recalled joyful and meaningful moments from their school years, lessons learned inside and outside the classroom, and the many challenges they faced. Through these experiences, they grew both as students and as individuals. Their stories embodied the spirit of perseverance, reflecting the message of the scripture that they have fought their good fight and are ready to finish their course with faith. In closing, they encouraged everyone to stay strong, remain hopeful, and continue confidently pursuing their dreams.

After the Mass, the students received a special blessing a sign that God accompanies them as they enter new accomplishments and face life’s challenges after graduation. The day ended with warm smiles, hugs, and photos with teachers, friends, and family.

It was a joyful and thankful day for all. The Baccalaureate Mass not only celebrated the students’ achievements but also helped them feel prepared, hopeful, and excited for the future, inspired by the enduring strength found in faith.
