Dipolog City- Three student participants from DMC College Foundation, Inc., Integrated School Department, showcased their academic prowess as they competed in the first-ever โPilipinas Game Ka Na Ba?โ Interschool Edition, held at Andres Bonifacio College (ABC) gym last Friday, August 07, 2026.
Bringing the name of their institution, Jchoun Pmarch Angel D. Caro, Zarah Cecilia B. Bael, and Mhikaela E. Duhaylungsod engaged in a โbattle of the brainsโ as they went toe-to-toe intellectually with other student participants from eight participating schools in the city.
This category is a version of Kris Aquinoโs game show, โPilipinas Game Ka Na Baโ, wherein a total of 24 participants competed, with three participants from each participating school in the city, and was organized by the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) council of Barangay Miputak, spearheaded by their SK chairman, Honorable Isagani Datoy who emphasized in his opening remarks that the โ youth is the center of their service.โ
The DMCian delegates, though, hadnโt managed to bring home the title, as they only reached the second round, but they brought with them a more valuable learning experience from joining the event.
Moreover, Mr. John Robert M. Villa, LPT, the acting coach of the DMCian delegates, expressed his gratitude for being allowed to participate in this event. According to him, it was a great opportunity for students to learn beyond the four corners of the classroom to a new world of learning where they could engage in a friendly competition with other students in the community, making them more socially responsible for the current issues facing the country. He also added that this event helped students make new friends and gain new insights, as well as meaningful rewards they can enjoy beyond winning medals.
The DMCian delegates advanced to the second round after securing their spot by answering correctly the question addressed to each of them during the first round. The second round was an intense match of โDiskarte o Abante, Pyramid Round,โ wherein participants could choose to step ahead and advance to the next level, or choose to pull participants from the front and switch positions if they answered the given question correctly.
Ultimately, the participant from Punta National High School was hailed as the Champion, while Dipolog City National High School secured the First Runner-up spot, with Sicayab National High School clinching the Second Runner-up.
Finally, the journey of Caro, Bael, and Duhaylungsod serves as a testament to the fact that the true essence of competition isnโt just about winning; hence, all the experience and insights they gained from the event are as meaningful as trophies and prizes.
