Corruption in the Philippines has never been subtle. It is systemic, deeply networked, and protected by offices powerful enough to bend the law around themselves. Yet our approach to fighting it remains rooted in an outdated model of policing — one built for a world of paper envelopes and whispered conspiracies, not the digital pipelines of modern graft.

WE ARE LOSING THE WAR ON CORRUPTION — BECAUSE WE’RE USING TOOLS FROM THE PAST

The truth is painful: our law enforcement agencies are fighting modern corruption with decades-old methods. That’s why almost no congressman — or their bagmen — ever gets prosecuted. We keep waiting for video proof of a bag of cash changing hands, instead of tracking the real trail: the money itself.

Today’s corruption doesn’t happen in parking lots. It happens in bank transfers, shell companies, remittances, digital wallets, offshore accounts. And yet we still expect contractors to sign affidavits implicating a congressman. That will never happen.

The FBI prosecutes corruption by following financial forensics, data analytics, electronic surveillance, and transaction monitoring — not by relying on a lucky entrapment.

Our NBI, CIDG, Ombudsman, Sandiganbayan, and DOJ need to modernize.
Because corruption can hide behind power — but it can’t hide from arithmetic.

SALN vs ITR.
Year by year.
Peso by peso.

If assets grow but legal income doesn’t, the numbers do the talking.

If the math fails, investigate.
If guilt is proven, prosecute.
No exceptions. No sacred cows.

Arithmetic never lies — and it will expose what corruption tries to hide.

8ID Tightens Grip on EVRPC: 5 C**s Neutralized, 8 Fi****ms Seized in Intensified Operations

CAMP VICENTE LUKBAN, Catbalogan City, Samar — The 8th Infantry “Stormtroopers” Division is tightening its decisive campaign against the Eastern Visayas Regional Party Committee (EVRPC) as combat operations in Northern Samar and sustained security pressure in Leyte continue to dismantle the group’s remaining strongholds.

Security forces under the 803rd Infantry “Peacemakers” Brigade scored major gains on November 29, 2025 during a series of armed encounters in Barangay Nipa, Palapag, Northern Samar, striking at the Sub-Regional Committee (SRC) Arctic of the EVRPC.

Acting on multiple reports from concerned civilians that Communist-NPA-Terrorists (C**s) were coercing farmers to surrender portions of their harvests, troops raided a fortified hideout rigged with International Humanitarian Law–banned Anti-Personnel Mines. The presence of the explosives prompted soldiers to call for precision fire support, resulting in the death of one CNT. Soldiers recovered five high-powered fi****ms — three M16 rifles and two M14 rifles — along with additional war materiel.

With their defensive line broken, the remaining C**s attempted to flee north of the encounter area. The 78th Infantry “Warrior” Battalion mounted pursuit operations, leading to two more armed engagements. Another CNT was killed, and authorities seized a Cal. 45 pistol.

Meanwhile, the 93rd Infantry “Bantay Kapayapaan” Battalion under the 802nd Infantry “Peerless” Brigade reported the voluntary surrender of three C**s, including a High Value Individual, on November 30, 2025. They also turned over two Cal. 45 pistols.

One of the surrenderers, alias “Alon,” former Commanding Officer of Front 41 of the Island Committee Levox, revealed that EVRPC is in a “desperate” state — its mobility crippled, its mass bases shrinking, and former supporters rejecting their presence due to continued extortion and intimidation.

The 8ID emphasized that these developments show the rapid collapse of EVRPC’s operational capability. The Division vowed to maintain its momentum, relentlessly pursue remaining armed elements, and continue welcoming those who choose to surrender and return to the folds of the law.

A REMARKABLE STORY OF SERVICE, PATRIOTISM, AND COUNTRY

AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S. Brawner Jr. personally visited the home of Captain Jerome Jacuba, meeting his wife and children, and honoring him for his extraordinary sacrifice and courage.

Captain Jacuba lost his eyesight in a 2016 IED blast during combat operations in Datu Salibo, Maguindanao. Because of his complete disability, he was already scheduled for discharge from military service.

But President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. intervened.

Recognizing Captain Jacuba’s 15 years of dedication, leadership, and patriotism, the President ordered that he be retained in the AFP, assigned to adaptive duties where his experience will continue to serve the country, and promoted to the rank of Major.

During the home visit, Gen. Brawner assured the family that the AFP will never abandon those who offered their lives and bodies for the nation. He emphasized that a soldier who loses his sight for the Philippines must never feel unseen by the institution he served.

The AFP has also begun a comprehensive review of the Complete Disability Discharge (CDD) policy to ensure stronger protection and long-term support for wounded and disabled personnel.

Major Jacuba’s story is more than a tale of injury — it is a testament to unbroken patriotism, dignity, and the country’s promise to honor its heroes.

There are men who wear the uniform, and there are men who become the uniform—its courage, its weight, its quiet promise to stand between danger and the people they swore to protect. Captain Jerome Jacuba belongs to the latter.
