"Screechhh" The sound of a chalk writing as the teacher writes the title of her/his lesson. The noise inside the classroom slowly fades, only the chalk dancing around the board and a sentence slowly forms "Reflection". They did not discuss normal lessons that day, but a life lesson. " Close your eyes, and imagine..." The students followed, each word paints a vivid pictureโ€”about hurting someones feelings, losing someone important, and what would your life look like if you do this and that. Some students laughed, sobbed, and one of them cried quietly.

It was a reflection that made us change our visions in life.

Teachers are our second parentโ€” they do not only care about our grades, but also our well-being. If we are doing well in life, if we are having problems we cannot tell anyone, when we doubt ourselves, They are one of the figures who ask "how are you doing, dear? ".

Some students gather little hope due to their encouragement and support. When a family member is not present to put a medal around an honorees neck, their presence makes some students heart melt.

However, behind their heartfelt words and beautiful smilesโ€” is a person who is tired, slowly losing motivation has to make another sacrifice. Not everyone can see it, but they are human beings that can feel frustration and sadnessโ€” just like students do.

Yet, no matter what they are going through, they choose to inspire and support usโ€”no matter what we have and who we are.

In every topic, whether its about mathematical equation or Dr. Jose Rizal's life storyโ€” they always find ways to weave in life lessons.

They all have their own ways to tell us advices. Some shares in a soft and symphatetic way, some shares in the verge of frustration and some shares privately so students can cry in their shoulder.

Teacher is a very unique professionโ€”they get to mentor and be part of many students journey. Now, as we celebrate National Teachers Month. Let us show our gratitude to themโ€”especially the teachers that has a huge impact in our life.

Because they have the chance to bring us down, yet they choose to inspire us in every lesson

Farmers work tirelessly under the scorching sun to harvest what they sow.
Teachers often skip lunch just to teach, mentor, and care for their students.
Parents put their childrenโ€™s needs first, even before their own meals.
And our Filipino heroes gave up their own lives so that ours could be safe.

Heroism comes in many forms, and it is this quiet courage that inspires us to keep fighting and moving forward.

Today, we commemorate National Heroes Day โ€” a day to honor all kinds of heroes. Whether itโ€™s your parents, teachers, police officers, doctors, friends, or even a stranger who chose kindness โ€” anyone who puts others first.

We see them in the sacrifices no one talks about:
Cooking for you despite their own hunger.
Teaching you despite their own exhaustion.
Protecting you despite their own fear.

We enjoy our freedom today โ€” the freedom to speak, to learn, to dream โ€” not because we were simply born free, but because of those who fought for it.
Our heroes gave their time, strength, blood, and sweat so we could live in peace.

Let their heroism inspire us to do the same for others.

August 28 and September 1, 2026 is the day of exam. As this day comes near, there are different types of students: the good student who reviews first before anything else, the one who reviews their old conversation, hoping the spark comes back, and the one who leaves it to Batman.

But no matter what kind of student you are, good luck! Because at the end of the day, your score is not importantโ€” what's important is you learned and applied what you have learned throughout this term.

A shooting threat is not a prank. It is a serious act that creates fear, disrupts learning, and forces an entire school community to confront a frightening question: If the threat were real, would our schools be ready?

The recent shooting-related threat involving a student of Calumpang High School fortunately did not result in violence. No weapon was used, and no lives were harmed. Yet dismissing the incident as "just a joke" would be a mistake. Threats involving violence should never be treated as harmless pranks because they create panic, consume the attention of authorities, and expose weaknesses in a school's ability to respond to emergencies.
The real concern is not merely who made the threat. The bigger concern is whether schools are adequately prepared when such threats arise.

School safety is not something that should be addressed only after a tragedy occurs. Preparedness means having the necessary systems, personnel, and procedures already in place before a crisis emerges. Every school should be able to immediately identify threats, coordinate with law enforcement, communicate with parents, and protect students and staff when danger arises.

Unfortunately, many schools continue to operate with limited security resources. In some cases, schools rely on barangay tanods or ask teachers with vacant periods to assist in monitoring gates and entrances. While these efforts may be well-intentioned, they highlight a larger problem: security responsibilities are being assigned to people whose primary roles are not security.

Their responsibility is to teach, mentor, and guide students. Their time is already occupied by lesson preparation, assessments, reports, and student concerns. Assigning them gate security duties not only adds to their workload but also places them in situations for which they are neither trained nor equipped.

If a genuine security threat occurs, should a teacher be expected to confront a suspicious individual? Should a teacher be responsible for screening visitors, managing an emergency lockdown, or responding to potential violence?

The answer is clear.

These are responsibilities that should belong to trained security personnel. Schools need qualified security guards who have proper training in risk assessment, emergency response, access control, and coordination with law enforcement agencies. The safety of hundreds or even thousands of learners should not depend on whichever teacher happens to have a free period.

Investing in school security should not be viewed as an unnecessary expense. It is an investment in the protection of students, teachers, and the learning environment itself. Just as schools hire teachers to educate and administrators to manage operations, they should hire security personnel to safeguard the campus.

However, school safety is not solely the responsibility of schools.
The recent incident also highlights a deeper issue that begins long before students enter the school gate. Respect, responsibility, discipline, and empathy are values first learned at home. Parents and families play a crucial role in teaching young people that words have consequences and that threatening violence, even as a joke, is never acceptable.
Many students may fail to understand the seriousness of their actions when values formation is neglected. A message intended to amuse friends can quickly trigger fear among classmates, anxiety among parents, and alarm among school authorities. What one student may consider a joke can become a source of trauma for an entire community.

This is why values education cannot be left entirely to schools. Schools reinforce values, but homes are where character is first formed. Parents must teach children accountability, respect for life, responsible use of technology, and the importance of thinking before posting or sharing messages online. At the same time, schools should continue strengthening programs that promote responsible behavior, digital citizenship, conflict resolution, and respect for others. Education and security must work together to create a safe learning environment.

The recent threat should therefore serve as a wake-up call for everyone.
School administrators should review emergency response plans. Security measures should be evaluated and strengthened. Local government units and education officials should consider allocating resources for trained security guards in schools. Teachers should receive support, not additional security duties beyond their profession. Parents should reinforce values that discourage irresponsible behavior and threats of violence.

Most importantly, students must understand that shooting threats are never funny.
They are never harmless.
They are never just jokes.
Every threat must be treated seriously because no school can afford to guess whether the next one is real or not.
The question before us is not whether the recent threat turned out to be a prank. The question is whether we learned something from it. And when that day comes, preparedness, professional security, and strong values formation may make the difference between panic and protection. Before another threatening message appears on a screen, before fear spreads through another classroom, and before another school community is forced to ask what could happen next, we must address the issue now.

If the answer is uncertain, then the time to act is today, not after tragedy strikes. Safety is not a secondary concern in education. It is a responsibility shared by schools, families, communities, and government alike.

Hallways that were once filled with safety and laughter now carry whispers of fear and courage.

The wind still lifts our hair as it passes, and the sun still touches our skin softly as we walk outside the school gate.
We used to feel excited stepping through it โ€” wondering if today would be full of laughter, plot twists, and memories. For a while, we could forget about deadlines, quizzes, and unfinished work. For many of us, school was an escape โ€” a place of color away from the black and white of home.

โ€œAfter hearing about school incidents like threats, shootings, stabbings, and other acts of violence, I feel concerned and saddened. Schools are supposed to be safe places where students can learn without fear,โ€
says ๐˜•๐˜ฐ๐˜ท๐˜ข ๐˜”๐˜ข๐˜ฆ ๐˜ˆ๐˜ญ๐˜ค๐˜ฐ๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜ฃ๐˜ข of Calumpang National High School.

As she scrolled through Facebook, one post stopped her: "OFFICIAL ADVISORY: Circulating Threats Online" from DepEd RXII SDO General Santos City. It planted a seed of fear โ€” not just in her, but in students, teachers, and families across the Philippines.

Now, every step in the hallway feels heavier.
Worry hits like the wind. The thought of danger wraps around us like thorns. We look over our shoulders. We pray for our loved ones like itโ€™s the end of the world.

Grade 10 Representative ๐˜™๐˜ฐ๐˜ด๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ฆ ๐˜Š๐˜ข๐˜ฎ๐˜ช๐˜ฒ๐˜ถ๐˜ฆ shares the same fear: โ€œI felt very uneasy and anxious about going back to school because of recent incidents. I worry about my safety and my older brotherโ€™s safety. Itโ€™s hard not to overthink.
But I still want to go back. Face-to-face classes help us learn better. Teachers can explain clearly, and we can ask questions. I just hope our school strengthens its safety so all of us can feel safe and focus on learning.โ€

It is hard to be brave when fear is everywhere. Yet every step we take is proof of courage, passion, and determination to reach our dreams.

So take one step through the classroom door.
Pack courage in your backpack. Write prayers for safety in your notebook. Pass a pen of trust to your classmates. Use correction tape to fix mistakes and let go of fear.

Wear the Calumpang High School uniform with

Because even in uncertain times, we will prove that CHS is safe. CHS is the best.

Our Pambansang Wika is not just a languageโ€”it serves as a reminder for those who fought for our country. Through shed blood, written encouragement, courage and strength to fight those who enslaved us. Artificial Intelligence (AI) can never replace any human labor nor our language. Instead, it helps us recognize our language more deeper and clearer.

Technology doesn't replace how our language works. Instead, it serves as a tool to find answers and make information more accessible. Our language remains deeply rooted in history and wisdom.

Together with innovation, we can preserve our identity as Filipinos. Let us celebrate our language in the digital era!
