“TAG-ANI” 🌾
The National Costume of Princess Ibrahim, MUPH Guipos 2025
In the heart of Zamboanga del Sur lies the humble yet fertile land of Guipos, revered as the province’s rice granary—a town where the lifeblood of its people is drawn from the earth, and the rhythm of life beats to the planting and harvesting of rice. In this land where golden fields stretch across the horizon, the spirit of the ancient goddess Tag-ani endures.
Princess Ibrahim, representing Guipos in the Miss Universe Philippines 2024 pageant, dons a national costume that does more than dazzle—it tells a story. Her ensemble is a living homage to Tag-ani, the goddess of good harvest and daughter of Bathala, whose divine presence blessed the land with abundance and guided farmers through the cycles of life.
Her costume is adorned with rice motifs, bird details, and golden grains, each detail mirroring the harmony between mankind and nature. Her flowing silhouette mirrors the lush rice lands and fertile valleys of Guipos. At the heart of the design is a message: this is more than tradition—it is sacred continuity and sustainable agriculture.
As she walks the stage, Princess Ibrahim is not just a beauty queen—she is a modern-day embodiment of Tag-ani. She carries the prayers of farmers, the strength of her ancestors, and the promise of every harvest yet to come. Her presence honors not only the rich agricultural identity of her hometown but also the divine feminine force that nurtures and sustains it.
With every step, she reminds us that Tag-ani lives on—in the spirit of her people, in the bounty of the land, and in the proud heart of Guipos.
