There was a time when every trip meant long commutes, multiple transfers, and hours on the road just to reach a destination. Travel required patience, planning, and determination.

Today, with Monty, destinations that once felt distant have become much closer. Every drive is a reminder of how far life has taken me, not just in distance, but in the journey itself.

As I continue to mentor, I am reminded that every lesson taught, every skill demonstrated, and every opportunity to guide future nurses is an investment. Teaching has never been easy, but it has always been worthwhile.

Looking at Monty today, I see more than just a vehicle. I see one of the rewards of years spent mentoring, and helping others grow. It represents the fruits of hard work, dedication, and the countless moments spent sharing knowledge with those who will one day care for others.

From long commutes to open roads, this journey is proof that every effort has its reward. Some rewards come in the success of the people you teach, and sometimes, they come in the form of dreams fulfilled.

“Every destination feels closer when you’re driving your dream. Monty is not just a vehicle, it’s a reminder that every lesson taught eventually finds its way back as a blessing.”

Day Offs ni Serr: 2025 Recap

This year, my days off became quiet escapes that healed the mind and balanced the weight of work and life. Each journey felt like a gentle pause—moments where time slowed and gratitude grew.

I watched the sun melt into the horizon in Northwest Panay, a reminder that endings can be beautiful. From there, I walked the fine white sands of Boracay, letting the sea wash away fatigue. Adventure followed in the mountains of the Northwest Panay Peninsula, where the turquoise, tortoise-like waters of Parigusan it Pari felt untouched and pure—nature at its calmest.

I escaped to Guimaras during the Manggahan Festival, spending an overnight on the island filled with laughter, mango-sweet moments, and island warmth. A quiet trip to Carles, Northeast Panay, offered space to breathe, rest, and simply be.

I shared good food and stories at the seafood center of Panay with my Nursing Service colleagues—proof that camaraderie makes every place brighter. A Manila escape stood out, filled with bonding, road trips, and food trips that soothed tired souls. Reconnecting with close friends and bonding with a former student reminded me that relationships are journeys too.

These day offs weren’t just travels—they were lifelines. 🌅🌊

What is your long weekend story?

Don’t make your work your whole life —
Instead, let work be just one part of a life well-lived.

Cherish the moments, nurture your relationships, and take time to breathe. Balance isn’t just a goal — it’s a choice we make every day.

Let’s live fully, not just work endlessly.

A spontaneous yet fun-filled Day Off ni Serr turned into a memorable getaway in Roxas City, joined by our ever-supportive Chief Nurse Ma’am Virgie and several department heads!

With everyone’s spirits high and the weather on our side, we made the most of the day exploring some of the city’s highlights:

📍 The Ruins – A perfect start to the trip with a bit of history and charm.

🌿 Istorya Forest Garden – Nature, serenity, and beautiful garden trails gave us a chance to relax and breathe.

⛪ Panay Church – A visit to one of the country’s oldest churches, rich in culture and spiritual value.

🌅 People’s Park Baybay Roxas – A breezy afternoon by the sea with smiles, laughter, and scenic views.

To cap it all off, we dined at Bitoy’s Restaurant, enjoying local flavors and good company—definitely one for the books!

Until next sponty Day Off ni Serr 🚘

Lost in Libertad: Ser's Antique Escape
📍Sitio San Juan, San Roque, Libertad, Antique

🌴Parigusan it Pari

Our journey from Iloilo City to Libertad, Antique took around six hours, but every minute was worth it. The long drive was rewarded with scenic views and the promise of adventure. Libertad welcomed us with its calm, laid-back atmosphere—perfect for escaping the city’s noise.

One of the highlights of our trip was visiting Baluon Pool. Tucked deep in nature, reaching the pool required a 30-minute hike through a lush green trail. The walk was a mix of challenge and excitement, surrounded by towering trees and the sounds of birds and rushing water. When we arrived at the viewing deck, we were met with a breathtaking panoramic view of the mountains and forest below—it was a moment that made the climb absolutely worth it.

But the real gem was waiting further along the trail: Parigusan it Pari. Nestled quietly among the mountains, this natural pool glowed a beautiful tortoise green. The water was clear and cool, perfect for a refreshing dip. The peaceful vibe, the soft rustle of leaves, and the occasional birdsong created the most relaxing atmosphere. We felt completely connected to nature.

A huge thank you to our guide, Franky, whose local knowledge and warm attitude made the entire experience safe and enjoyable. He led us through the trail with ease and shared stories about the area that made us appreciate it even more.
