A well-deserved break awaits the entire Centralians!. In recognition of the exceptional dedication and hard work shown by everyone during the University Week Centralian Fest (UWCF) 2026, Central Philippine University President Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy, DMin, has officially issued Memo No. 90, Series 2026. This administrative directive formally declares Friday, October 9, 2026, as an official CPU Holiday.

The university-wide holiday serves as a token of appreciation following a series of campus festivities. The administration highly commends the tireless efforts of administrators, faculty, staff, students, and support teams who worked behind the scenes to make the events a massive success. Their collective energy brought to life the 121st Founding Anniversary, the 2026 Grand Alumni Homecoming, and the action-packed UWeek Centralian Fest 2026.

True to the university's core virtues of Scientia et Fides (Knowledge and Faith), this year's celebrations perfectly embodied the themes "Central Spirit: Uniting Generations" and "Together We Build." Campus officials hope that this long weekend provides everyone with a meaningful opportunity to rest, recharge, and enjoy quality time with family and friends. This 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗗𝗮𝘆, we honor the educators around the world who continue to teach, inspire and empower despite a system that too often fails to give them the support they deserve. Behind every lesson is a teacher fighting not only ignorance but also the consequences of underfunded classrooms, inadequate resources and policies that fall short of their promises.

The future of a nation is not built by empty promises, but by educated minds, empowered teachers and a government that understands that education is not merely a path to progress. It is the foundation of it.

Happy World Teachers’ Day! May we continue to honor those who teach us to question, think critically and imagine a better world.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞: 𝗖𝗕𝗔 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗨𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗻 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲

ILOILO CITY, October 2, 2026 — With outfits unavailable and the competition fast approaching, the College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) Chorale faced an unexpected challenge at the Chorale Competition held at Rose Memorial Auditorium during University Week Centralian Fest 2026.

What should have been the final moments of preparation turned into a stressful race against time as participants and staff scrambled to find alternatives. With pressure mounting, the team had to improvise their wardrobe while keeping their focus on the performance ahead.

Despite the last-minute adjustments and tension behind the scenes, the CBA Chorale took the stage and delivered a spectacular performance, proving that setbacks need not overshadow talent, dedication and teamwork.

Their experience highlighted the often-unseen struggles behind university competitions, where success depends not only on the performers but also on the resourcefulness and commitment of those working behind the curtain.

𝗖𝗕𝗔 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗚𝗨 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝗻𝗶𝗰

Around a thousand Phoenixes gather at the University Gym on October 2, 2026 as the College of Business and Accountancy joins the annual LGU Picnic Day, a long-standing tradition for Centralians every University Week.

The event features a shared lunch, games, team activities, and entertainment for the faculty, staff, and students to enjoy. A variety of booths are also present, adding more fun and excitement for the attendees.

More than just a celebration, this event serves as a well-deserved break for the CBA community to strengthen its bond and unity, and build lasting relationships that paves the way for a more connected and supportive environment.

Ipinamalas ng College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) ang kanilang talento at enerhiya sa ginanap na Streetdance Competition bilang bahagi ng University Week Centralian Fest (UWCF) 2026. Naging tampok din sa kompetisyon ang mga makukulay at makapukaw-pansing pagtatanghal mula sa iba’t ibang departamento.

Ipinakita ng mga CBA dancers ang kanilang husay, kumpiyansa, at dedikasyon sa pamamagitan ng sabayang galaw, malikhaing koreograpiya, at matitinding dance moves. Sa bawat kumpas ng musika, dala nila ang pangalan ng CBA at ang kanilang determinasyong maibigay ang pinakamahusay na performance.

Sa pagtatapos, bukas pa nakatadhang ipalabas ang resulta ng kompetisyon, ngunit anuman ang maging resulta, naging patunay ang kanilang pagtatanghal sa talento, pagkakaisa, at passion ng mga CBA Phoenixes, na patuloy na nagbibigay-sigla sa kanilang departamento sa UWCF 2026.

After almost two weeks of fiery competitions, relentless passions, and camaraderie, the University Week Centralian Fest comes to one of its highlight events, the Foot Parade.

The campus was filled with vibrant colors, as each department, including the College of Business and Accountancy, showcased their unique costumes and props, matched with their massive energy for their respective cheers and chants.

Pumapangalawa ang College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) sa partial scoreboard ng University Week Centralian Fest (UWCF) 2026 na may temang “ Central Spirit: Uniting Generations,” na kasalukuyang ginaganap sa Central Philippine University.

Dikit ang laban para sa unang pwesto sa pagpapatuloy ng University Week Centralian Fest 2026. Batay sa pinakahuling tala ng puntos, nakapagtala ang Junior High School (JHS) ng 3,220 puntos, na sinusundan ng CBA na may 3,190 puntos, 30 puntos lamang ang pagitan ng dalawang koponan. Samantala, nasa ikatlong puwesto ang Senior High School (SHS) na may 3,140 puntos.

Exactly 121 years have passed since October 1, 1905, generations have changed, but the Centralian Spirit still remains.

Central Philippine University signified its 121st Foundation Anniversary yesterday, while the most awaited University Week Centralian Fest 2026 celebration transpires today, marking another year in the University's long and meaningful journey.

This year's theme, “Central Spirit: Uniting Generations,” reflects that the legacy goes beyond a single generation; it refers to the common experiences, values, traditions, and memories which link the people who came before, the Centralians who are here today, and those who will one day continue to pass on the story.

Rooted in Psalm 100:5, “For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations,” the celebration honors a legacy sustained through faith and carried forward from one generation to another.

For 121 years, the Centralian spirit has lived through the people who have walked its halls, contributed to its community, and brought the values of the University wherever their journeys led them.

𝙎𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙖 𝙏𝙤𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙬 𝙒𝙚 𝙈𝙖𝙮 𝙉𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙎𝙚𝙚

A seed is small enough to fit in the palm of a hand. Yet beneath the soil, it carries enormous and long-standing possibilities.

On August 29, 2026, the College of Business and Accountancy community gathered in Brgy. Badiang, New Lucena, Iloilo for 𝗛𝗜𝗥𝗔𝗬𝗔: 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀, 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗼𝗽𝗲—an initiative that turned tree-planting activity into a commitment to a greener and more sustainable future.

Spearheaded by the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA) and the Junior Philippine Association of Management Accountants (JPAMA), with the Young Entrepreneurs Society as a collaborator, the initiative brought students and community members together to plant fruit-bearing trees.

As we all know, a tree takes time. It asks for patience before it gives shade, care before it bears fruit and commitment even when the reward remains years away. In much the same way, sustainability demands that we think beyond what we can benefit from today and consider what we are leaving behind for those who will come after us.

Each seedling planted in Badiang represents that choice.
A choice to care for the land.
A choice to create greener spaces.
A choice to believe that small acts, when shared by many, can grow into something lasting.

The initiative was made possible through the support of the Western Visayas Agricultural Research Center, which provided the seeds that gave HIRAYA its beginning.

Yet perhaps the most meaningful part of HIRAYA is what remains after everyone goes home.

The seedlings.

They will continue to grow in silence, enduringly, through the rain and heat, long after the hands that planted them have moved on. One day, they may bear fruit for people who were never present when they were planted.

And that is the kind of hope HIRAYA asks us to practice. Not hope that simply waits for a better tomorrow, but hope that plants something today so that someone else can have a better tomorrow.

Some of the most meaningful things we can do for the future are things we may never personally witness.

‎Sports and events will start their elimination round today, setting the energy high as all colleges and departments have one goal—the podium. With that, the Phoenixes are blazing hot, ready to spread their wings, and in all force to make the whole CPU bleed with yellow and purple.
