Congratulations Healthway QualiMed Hospital Iloilo for conducting another successful National Breastfeeding Awareness Month Celebration!
Today, for me, was not just a celebration of the wonders and all the benefits of breastfeeding..but it's also a celebration of connection and community..
Thank you po for allowing me to join this event!
Thankful ako kay Doc Trasporto, Miss Joy, Maam Clecile and the whole lactation team 🙏🏻
Thank you Mommy Rona for being there with me 💜 kag sa cheesecake 😍
And super proud ako sa'yo, Mommy Meriel..I've seen your babywearing journey from day 1, to now na baby Z is more than 2 years old na.. 💪🏼
My heart overflows with joy sa mga nangyari today,.and the highlight of it all was the that Maam Clecile told me na, "Maam, nagamit gid namon ni (pointing to the carrier) bala sa NICU.."
She said that it helped them, the nurses, calm fussy, recuperating babies..na nakakatulog daw sila kaagad when they were worn. For me, it's mission accomplished, dahil isa yan sa mga reasons ko why we had that training..and why I wanted to become a consultant, first and foremost :)
PS: the carrier that was given to them was part of the inclusions ng ating 1st babywearing training with them for the nurses and doctors back in 2019..
Today was a good day! Thank You, Lord!
May we continue to support, promote and protect breastfeeding 🙏🏻
Happy Breastfeeding Month!

It's okay to put the baby down..
As a babywearing consultant, I often share to parents the positive effects and ease in parenting and taking care of the child when babywearing when..
That babywearing can help us do multiple tasks at once, that we have free hands to use to carry other things..that babywearing allows us to meet the needs of the child..and yes, all of those are true..
But also, I realized that somehow, maybe, I am sending this hidden or other message that we, moms, should constantly be in the state of doing, doing, doing, and that rest is a reward because well, we have a carrier to help us get by our days, so we don't have an excuse to not do other tasks..
So here's my virtual hug to you, moms..
And a reminder that it's okay to put the baby down..
It’s okay to put the baby down when you are physically tired..
It’s okay to put the baby down when you feel touched out and touched up..
It’s okay to put the baby down when everything feels overwhelming..
It’s okay to put the baby down when you need to rest for a bit..
It’s okay to put the baby down and ask for help..
It’s okay to put the baby down and just breathe..
It’s okay to put the baby down and..
and you don't need to feel guilty for doing it, whatever your reason is..
Your deserve rest..
Rest is not a reward but a requirement..
Motherhood is not a performance..
And being a mom does not require perfection..
Your maternal mental health matters too, mom..
Yes, baby carriers do help us get by.
I, myself, found my wraps and slings a lifesaver..
Being a full-time mom, with work, with no help..
My slings were my allies..
To this day, I still can't imagine how my early motherhood would have been had I not tried babywearing..
But, for others, that may not be the case..
Baby carriers and slings are just a tool, our extra hands, our parenting "assistant"..what your child needs is a happy mom..
Happy moms raise happy kids..
Babywear, and when you need to, or when you find it helpful for you,.but again, it's okay to put the baby down for a while and listen to your body, breathe, rest, ask for help.
it's okay,.🙏🏻
You are a great mom..✨
Love,
Sassy🤍
Happy and gentle Monday to you all 💜

It's been 6 years now since I got this email from my first babywearing coach, Victoria, from the School of Babywearing..
2016.
Since I carried our firstborn, in that beige stretchy wrap..
After several times of trying to make it work for us, despite Kuya's intense crying..
The moment he fell asleep..
The moment I felt his calmness on my chest..
I knew I had to share this to all the moms I know..
And while yes, I may have already reached my sunset babywearing phase..
My love for babywearing hasn't changed..
It just intensified even more..
To lengths, plans and ideas yet to unfold in His perfect time.
Our boys may have outgrown our slings..
And my slings have already faded as well..
But my goal to make safe and ergonomic babywearing be known by more Filipinos..
My goal to make traditional Fililino babywearing be practiced by more Filipinos..
My goal to make babywearing more affordable for more Filipino families..
My goal to make Asian babywearing brands rise and be known in the international arena..
And to make babywearing be recognized and practiced in the hospital from day 1, even beyond..especially in the NICU here in the Philippines..
Still fuels this passion that I have in me..
For me, this is not just about making video demos, or selling baby carriers..
It’s all about nurturing the parent and child connection from birth..
I hope, in my lifetime, I get to see the fruits of our collective efforts..
Here's to more years of sharing the babywearing love.. 🤍
TO GOD BE THE GLORY 💗💗💗
**still can’t contain my happiness as i read this email**
Only few people have known how difficult it must have been for me just to get myself be enrolled (due to lack of finances) at the School of Babywearing-UK,.but i strived really hard - sewn a lot of ring slings, breastfeeding tops, bibs, bibdanas, etc just to come up with enough money to be able to avail the course at KL, Malaysia. Plus the travel woes — pregnant with a toddler in tow.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank my husband who have always been supportive with my advocacies—babywearing, especially. Who always helps me especially when i fall short..thanks to my son who is the source of inspiration—the sole person who made me discover, enjoy and love babywearing. I saw and experience, firsthand, all the positive benefits that science told me about babywearing..and i could not imagine life being a mom without having known what babywearing is.
To my trainor Victoria Ward who have always been patient with me since last year — all the inquiries, etc..for sharing her knowledge and expertise in this particular field..thank you so much..i really learned a lot..💗
To my fellow trainees, thank you for the friendship, bond and experience..it was an honor and a priviledge to have known such passionate moms..
Special shoutout to Ng Mei Theng who helped us with our accomodation, food and demo dolls, and to Jeannie Lacay for being my only Filipina buddy during our training. 💗
Thank You Lord for this. 💗💗💗
Praying that through this, i’ll be able to help fulfill Your plans, by helping parents raise happy, smart and healthy babies thru babywearing.

“Babywearing”..a term we often see in action but fail to recognize its meaning and appreciate its benefits not just to the worn babies, but also to the babywearers and the society we live in.
I started babywearing in 2016 – two weeks after my first child was born. I started using a stretchy wrap. It wasn’t all magic the first time I tried. My son cried incessantly, prolly because he felt the fear and anxiety in me as I am really not that sure and quite confident with what I’m doing. After 3 ‘sweat-full’ and tearful tries, son felt calm and I too, felt like an instant supermom.
Weeks passed, I found myself sewing babywearing gears, with the thought in mind that I will be able to share the all the wonderful benefits of babywearing in my community at an affordable price. As days went by, I saw a greater need for safe babywearing awareness, so I converted my selling/business FB group to Iloilo Babywearing Community, and with the help of other momfriends who are also strong babywearing advocates, we were able to come up and plan our first city-wide babywearing event: Aboy-Aboy Sa Dughan last 2017.
My love for babywearing didn’t stop with just mere posting of video tutes, co-planning babywearing events, doing talks and demos, sewing babywearing gears..in my heart and in my mind, I know I can do more in help spreading babywearing awareness. In mid-2018, I searched for babywearing consultancy trainings and stumbled upon School of Babywearing-UK’s. I enrolled and had my practical training at Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last April 26, 2019 under Victoria Ward’s supervision. It was a surreal experience for me as it was a great leap for me, doing something like this for the sake of advocacy, it was also my first time to travel internationally, and that I was able to see Malaysia (yes, it’s “Truly Asia”, a must-visit country with good people) with my husband and toddler in tow and oh-so pregnant at that time—all for the love of babywearing.
We were given a coursework to be submitted not later than October 28, 2019. Considering that I am about to give birth any time soon, I made it to a point that I will be able to submit my work before the deadline. Day and night, and even during the wee hours, I struggled to do our work and thankfully I was able to finish my requirements last July 3, 2019 and became with a Certified Babywearing Consultant on July 22, 2019 (the first and only, as of writing, and to my knowledge, here in the Visayas, and one of the few here in the Philippines).
*others may see this as bragging, but for me, emphasizing this means that there is really a great need here in our country—that we lack babywearing consultants who can (1) share science-based, updated knowledge on babywearing, (2) help us troubleshoot babywearing difficulties, (3) help us choose appropriate babywearing gears as all parents and babies are unique, with varied lifestyles, budget preferences, and some even have medical concerns that need to be dealt with accordingly.
I know I still have a long way to go, I still need to learn a lot of things and need more arms and might in order for me to reach out to more people and help spread safe and positive babywearing vibes. And I know that through our collective efforts as a whole, we babywearers, parents, medical professionals, advocates, enthusiasts as a society, we can make babywearing mainstream….again.
Babywearing is a healthy, practical life skill and we all deserve to learn and enjoy it.
