While there was no official proclamation as of this posting, it is clear that 2025 is indeed a year of women empowerment for Iloilo City headed by our first duly-elected woman mayor.

Congratulations, Inday Raisa Treñas! We Ilonggos are excited to have our mother -- our iloy -- who will lead us in the next chapter of progress of Western Visayas' Crown Jewel.

Being a senior citizen himself, Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon is mentally, emotionally and socially aware of the challenges of getting old. It has become a criticism especially for seasoned public servants, but seeing and experiencing his achievements as the second-in-command of the city, his age really comes with wisdom and expertise which helped Mayor Jerry Treñas and the entire city government rise as a promising center of progress in the Philippines.

But one of the most noticeable contributions of VM Jeffrey is his attention with our senior citizens. One of these is “Halad Paglibot Para sa Aton Senior Citizens,” a travel program allowing elderly residents to explore the city’s key tourist attractions. Together with the Office of Senior Citizen Affairs, the vice mayor made sure that our lolos and lolas would enjoy our tourist destinations as most of them would not able to travel for quite sometime. Many of them rarely leave their homes, making this initiative an opportunity for them to visit the city’s cultural and historical landmarks.

Through Halad Paglibot and other numerous senior citizen programs. VM Jeffrey is always there to make his fellow elderly Ilonggos happy and continuously relevant in our changing society. So if you still have your grandparents, your vote for VM Jeffrey is your vote for their welfare.

"𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐈𝐒 𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐒 𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊𝐒 𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄." In a video released by Mayor Jerry Treñas yesterday, the whole world online saw a thriving Iloilo City made possible by Ilonggos' timeless character of love, perseverance and creativity which the local government under him boosted. As he will end his term very soon, this video has become a summary of the journey of the Crown Jewel of Western Visayas from being a historic center of the region to becoming one of the most productive, most creative and most significant cities in the Philippines and in Asia.

As we enter the new phase of kauswagon, it is now in our hands to choose qualified leaders that will help the government achieve a greater path of success for Syudad sang Iloilo. Now more than ever, the city deserves better champion.

One might observe that Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon's possible third term would be a beautiful symbolic transition of Iloilo City Government from its progressive era to a modern innovative era. As Mayor Jerry passes the baton to the eventual first elected woman mayor, VM Jeffrey's presence on top of the leadership manifest a formidable guidance not just to Inday Raisa but also to the next generation of public servants of this city.

As vice mayor, he made sure that policies were constantly in line with Mayor Jerry's vision of a progressive Iloilo City. His silent contribution as consensus builder bore fruit and we are seeing better results: greatness.

She was used to hide her role in the city government during the COVID-19 pandemic and treated herself as an ordinary public servant who's able to provide her management skills for the sake of the Ilonggo public. Now, as she is destined to become the first elected female mayor of Iloilo City, Inday Raisa Treñas wants us to reintroduce herself as a leader who can effectively bring the city better and stronger than ever.

Her track record as a sincere public servant, backed with strong leadership from her learning with her father, Inday Raisa is ready to intensify more people-centered government social services and maximize the best of the city to invite more investors as a key for next level economic progress.

When Mayor Jerry Trenas was on medical leave, Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon did exactly what the law mandates him: to take care of the city and to keep the current government structure in order. It was very unusual that the local chief executive is not around for quite a while, but when this came, VM Jeffrey stood as the leader of stability, never acted as THE mayor because he knew that a functional system that he and Mayor Jerry established for many years is indeed effective.

Seeing his accomplished his duty as the acting mayor, there was no question that Mayor Jerry expressed his utmost gratitude and praises for VM Jeffrey. Truly, a true, supportive and dependable partner, and Mayor Jerry is very lucky to have him as the wingman of the City Government. Surely, Mayora Inday Raisa would be very lucky to have this vice mayor on her side to join her, guide her and work with her for the next chapter of progress of Iloilo City.

Some critics are seeing Inday Raisa Treñas as a political newbie and Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon as an old man. But for the past years, we Ilonggos have seen how this "newbie" and "old" helped in keeping the city stable, safe, healthy and happy even when in the middle of pandemic.

This "newbie" and "old" had to step up to assist Mayor Jerry Treñas in pushing Iloilo City to greater heights. Some would say that it's not difficult, but seeing what they have accomplished, it's double the effort. The mayor would agree that without this "newbie" and "old", it would be unbearable.

Inday Raisa as a newbie and VM Jeffrey as old may be true... but that doesn't mean they won't be effective to push for the next chapter of this Crown Jewel. It will be an honor to all of us to have this innovative mother and hardworking grandfather to lead us, guide us and bring us the best of Iloilo City.

Iloilo City is now in the eyes of the Philippines and the world. We are now admired not just for our history and culture, but also for our ability to be optimistic and hardworking even in times of crisis. As we move forward and go higher, let us trust Mayora Raisa and VM Jeffrey as how we trusted Mayor Jerry to bring genuine and effective kauswagan.
