This is my rescue kitten and adopted puppy โ a beloved part of our family.
They has a warm bed, clean water, regular meals, and unconditional love. But not every animal is as lucky.
Every day, countless dogs and cats roam our streets, hungry, sick, and scared. They didnโt choose this life. We let them fall through the cracks.
And recently, the Iloilo City Veterinary Office made a statement that broke my heart:
Letโs be honest โ that message doesnโt just reject accountability, it rejects compassion.
Yes, pets are our personal responsibility. But the moment an animal becomes homeless, abandoned, or at risk โ it becomes a community concern. Turning a blind eye and hiding behind technicalities like "obligation" is not leadership โ itโs indifference.
So what happens to the animals with no one left?
Who speaks for them?
Who steps in when theyโre left to starve, suffer, or die on our streets?
This isnโt just about policies โ itโs about humanity.
That tagline dismisses the real crisis happening outside their office walls. Strays arenโt numbers. They are lives. They are the forgotten victims of a system that doesnโt care enough to help them.
I don't expect the City Vet to raise my dog for me.
But I do expect compassion.
I do expect action when animals are suffering right under our noses.
And I expect our local leaders to care about more than just what's convenient.
We need leadership that doesnโt just enforce rules โ we need one that embraces compassion, responsibility, and real solutions. Stray animals need care. They need shelter, food, and protection โ not cold-hearted disclaimers posted on social media.
If Your Dog was lost, injured, or left on the street, Iโd pray someone would care enough to help him. Thatโs the kind of community we should be building โ one that cares not just for our pets, but for all.
