The Philippines signed a $1-billion World Bank loan on May 14—its largest ever—for agricultural modernization. Repayment begins 2031 and ends 2044.
The loan agreement for the Philippine Sustainable Agriculture Transformation (PSAT) Program was signed by Finance Secretary Frederick D. Go. The World Bank approved the facility on March 27.
Denominated in Japanese yen at ¥156.61 billion, the loan carries a 0.25 percent front-end fee and a 0.25 percent annual commitment charge on unwithdrawn balances. The financing period closes by end-2030, with principal repayment beginning September 2031 and ending September 2044.
